Best: '06 Cal (first game as a UT student)

best 1982 Alabama - after all those losses the excitement would not die.

worst 2001 Georgia - the emotions as a fan from Stephens TD to the losing were two exterme highs and lows... can't imagine how it felt to staff and players

Agreed. That is probably the loudest I have ever heard Neyland Stadium. Two minutes later you could hear a pin drop.

Yep, the first one I thought of was Bama 82. They were still throwing into the end zone as time expired, but our D held. We hugged everybody around us, then went to the nearby Worlds Fair to party the evening away.

I have trudged out of there after losses, but have not nursed any of those bad memories, except I remember seeing Herschel Walker in his debut, cow-tromp Bill Bates (and I like Bill Bates, it just wasn't one of his better moments).

Best 98' Ark.- the "Stoner Stumble"

Worst - the Gaffney drop in the end zone. Where was replay when you needed it?

08 Bama last year has to be the worst experience for any Vol fans who hung around til the end. Looking around and seeing Neyland basically taken over by 25-30k in crimson was tough. Then that rammer jammer song started up. You could see it in every one of thems' eyes...they knew they had just put the final nail in PF's coffin, and they were loving every minute of it.

Best was the '98 Arkansas game!!!

The worst was a game in which I don't remember who we played, LOL. We knew some students at UT. We had used student tickets a couple of time in the past. This time we got the president of one of the frats to get us tickets and two IDs from a couple of his brothers. As I said, we had used them for previous games a couple of times before. However, in the alchohol consumption and killing of brain cells I was not thinking too clearly by the time we arrived at the gate. I was not 100% sure how to correctly swipe the student id since it had been a year or more since the last time we used them so instead of just backing off and re-grouping I went through and lifted up on the ID when I was swiping it for some reason so it didn't correctly register and they confiscated the ID. Like I said, many brain cells were killed that day as usual for a UT game. It was not a big deal as far as us watching the game. We just had to go outside and buy tickets from a scalper for about $15 I think it was, but I was in a bad mood the whole game for being an idiot and I was worried about the student who's ID I was using. I gave the guy that got them for us $20 to give the kid. He said he would just report it as stolen and it was no big deal.

Best : 06 Arky Game.

Worst: 08 Florida game. It is really a depressing feeling when you do the 3 hour drive from Nashville and pay alot cash for Section TT tickets Row 4; and the game is basically over after the first play.( Remember they had that long return to start that game) Crumpton's/Fosters fumble right before halftime on the 2 yardline was asinine.

Hottest: 03 Fresno St. My first game at Neyland and I almost fried.

Worst Weather: 08 UK game. Miserable, piss poor weather. 40 degrees and raining, yuck.

The Fresno State game was unGodly hot. It was miserable.

I was fortunate enough to be in the press box for the 08 UK game.

My personal favorite was the 04 UF game.

My worst was the 05 UGA game because I got in a fight, with a UT fan nonetheless when Jason Allen got trucked by Leonard Pope.

The guy was trashing Allen and I told him to shut up.

You rock dude. The first time I ever walked into the stadium I got arrested by Knoxville's finest. It was about 1971. It was a 1:00 game. My hair was longer than the average bears which I think had a bearing on the activities about to ensue. I walked from the concourse into the stands and beheld the glory that is Neyland Stadium. As I was standing there soaking up the ambience I noticed there was a couple of cops about ten rows down from where I was standing. They started walking up the steps and I thought they were going out into the concourse so I took a step to the right so I wouldn't be in their way. As they walked by one of the cops grabbed my arm and said "you're coming with us". I said "You're kidding right. I'm not doing anything wrong, I was just standing there looking at the field". He said "you're drunk". I hadn't had a drop since the night before. Welcome to Neyland, the crown jewel of the Volnation. They made me stay in jail for eight hours for no reason. That stay is another story for another day.

My best: Stoerner Stumble/T. Henry (pound the rock) clinic after. Prettiest fireworks I've ever seen.

My worst: My face is still hurting from the "Hobnail Boot" I had just gotten done yelling at a Georgia fan to "Get the hell outta Neyland" from the previous 64 yard touchdown by Stephens. As soon as I got back to my seat, UGA had scored to win the game.

Kill me.

We share the worst.

The best was the only time I got to see Peyton at Neyland. We beat Vandy. He led the band. And I got in the Guiness Book of World Records for the most people doing the Twist with Chubby Checker.

Second Best was Florida in the Rain (92 I think) Mose Phillips was my hero that day

I've been to many great favorites in Bama.
98 Auburn
05 T'town (5 ot win)
95 Bama Beatdown in Bham

Best 1999 ND game... was cord guy for an ESPN camera guy and ran around the sideline with a bunch of cable as a freshman. Got a bunch of cool pics of Tee and Fulmer.

Worst... Had several

my 21st b-day was the UGA 2001 Disaster

2000 UF sucked

2008 Bama was like a funeral

Which Gator game was it when it was pouring... 2002?? Yea that was horrible

2005 I spilt a large coke and JD down my then GF now wifes back. (still paying for that)

PS I missed 2004 UF due to wedding

I am seeing a recurring theme here. More worst games than best games. Just saying.

Best:
  • '01 LSU "The future" with 256 yards and the patriotism in the crowd was awesome.
  • '04 UF This is the only UF game that rivals my two trips (wins) to the Swamp ('01,'03).
  • '06 Cal The SEC chants were priceless (the Pac10 chants in '07 were not).

Worst:
  • '01 UGA I had gotten off work at 3:30am and drove from Memphis to Kville just in time to witness that high/low extreme.
  • '02 UF I was wet for 3 days after that game......8 fumbles?!?!
  • '08 Bama BDS North was the location for that game. Pathetic.

Like other have said, I just got so used to not winning many/any big games the last few years that I didn't have as much disappointment....made it easier on me. The Apathy Era is over hopefully.

Best: 98, Florida's missed field goal in overtime to give us a W over the Gators.

Worst: 5 minutes later, when Vols fans lost their collective intelligence and began acting like brainless wild animals. People tearing at band uniforms to try to rip a piece for a souvenier, watching a six year old cowering in fear while being pushed out of the way and almost trampled on as said mindless mob rushes the field, walking to my car after getting out of uniform and finding a UT student's car with broken windows and "gator trash" scrawled on the hood for the simple crime of having a florida license plate...

Best: 1997 UAB vs UT

I'm a UAB grad and a Vol die hard. Was a perfect game because UAB played respectably yet still lost (24 -30). Walking out of the stadium that night the Neyland P.A. announced that Ohio State (then #1) lost, pandemonium ensued.

Worst: 5 minutes later, witnessing 2 Vol fans trying to start a fight with a UAB fan who was with his wife and kid.

Second Best moment
: 20 seconds later, witnessing 5 Vol fans strong arming the 2 douche bags into the dirt and apologizing to the UAB family.

Best---98: OT win over florida when they choked on an easy field goal. We partied in Knoxville all night long. I don't remember half of the stuff we did due to drinking too many "spirits"!

Worst: loss against Florida in the rain and even worse, florida had Ron zook as coach. UT had about 5 QB fumbles.

I feel old.

Worst:
88 season against Duke and the ole ball coach beating us. saw more liquor bottles raining from the upper deck than I care to see.

90? against Bama, as Greg Burke, lined up to kick the winning field goal with less than a minute and it gets blocked and rolls 40 yards the other direction so Bama just had to line up and tiffin kicked the winner. UGGGHH

95? against florida 31-0.

2005 losing to Vandy

1992 losing to Arkansas

Best

1989 against Auburn

1990 against Florida, thank you Dale Carter

Best:
Georgia '97: My first UT game and the only time I saw Peyton play in person.

Arkansas '98: My dad had just decided it was time to beat the traffic and as soon as we stood up, Stoerner fumbled. We immediately sat back down.

Arkansas '02: Sat 5 rows from the field in the endzone where Whitten caught the game winning ball.

Southern Miss '07: This may have been a blowout win, but it was my first as a member of the band and opening that T for the first time was an unreal moment.

Worst:
Notre Dame '04: Watching Rick Clausen look like a deer in headlights in that second half was terrible. I felt sorry for him. On the way out, some drunk lady slapped a "Clausen for Heisman"(Casey) sticker on the back of my jersey. I still have that sticker on a music folder somewhere.

Florida '08: Really no description needed here. Anytime Florida comes into your place and rolls over you it's a terrible day.

Alabama '08: I lost some respect for our fanbase for 1) Somehow allowing Bama fans to get that many tickets and 2) Leave after the 3rd quarter and allow the Bama fans to make that place their own. Now every time I hear "Rammer Jammer" I get beyond angry because I think of that game.

Best - 98' Arkansas closely followed by 2 Bama wins.

Worst - 00'? UF, Lead the whole game, and got beat on a horrendous call which I will not name.

Best: Spring, 1976. Our intramural softball team crawled under the northeast fence (you could do that in those days) and practiced for two hours on the field. No one ever saw us. It rained briefly and we had sliding distance contests on the wet artifical turf.

Worst: Alabama game, 1980. 27-0 in the rain. No experience was even close to worse than that (distant runners up are the North Texas State loss and the '02 Florida rain game).

Awful game. Charlie Daniels played at half.
I think we finally got a 1st down in the 3rd Q.

I think you are mixing your years. The #1 OSU loss to Michigan State was in 1998 at the same time we beat UAB 37-13. I was at the game and watch the end of the OSU game at the concession stand on the way out from the stadium.
