Best/Worst Neyland Experience

1993 When Tannyhill from SC came in talking trash, then he confronts shuler before we go into the locker room after pregame warm ups. The gamecocks took the opening kick and drove it 60 yards to take a 3-0 lead. Tannyhill swung like he hit a homerun after the drive on the "T". Then we rattled of 55 unanswered to shut them up.

I've heard the field has laser grid alarm system on it does anyone know if that's true? Kinda off topic I know but still I am kinda curious.

pretty sure they do...in '05 a few friends and i snuck out there in the middle of the night and within five minutes we saw flashlights and utpd coming we ran and made it out the gate we came in through so no-one got in trouble but there had to be an alarm system for the cops to get there that fast.

my worst was against Vandy in '05. We lost to freakin Vandy:banghead2:

Best moment, 1998 Arkansas game where Sterner fumbled. I felt like god loved me for the first time that day!

The worst was losing to Wyoming last year and Vandy in 2005. :banghead2:

Best:
first game in Neyland 1989 vs Colorado State - actuallly all that season was great - my first experiences as a college freshman and I was in the band so that rocked - but actually being in Neyland that summer before at band practices was pretty cool
1991 win vs Auburn after tying them the year before
1993 game vs South Carolina shutting Tannyhill up

best & worst the close game in 1990 vs Notre Dame when we almost came back and won

Worst
1990 close loss to Bama
06 Miami homecoming game

Yea I thought there had to be something the wide eyed freshman in me wanted to get on the field but I didn't I would do it now tho haha

Like a guy was saying earlier, I was so disappointed with the team and the season at that point last year, I was just kinda numb watching that game.

My worst one was when Clausen fumbled on the 1 yard line against UGA and they ran it back 90 something yards on us right before the half. When UT came back out they just laid down and got spanked. Would of put us in the lead if it wasn't for the fumble.

Added worst part is me and my wife had two 250 lb or bigger guys standing up the whole game right in front of us, very annoying to stand the whole freakin game.

and 05 Vandy loss was just comical, there is nothing like having 3 Vandy brats behind you the whole game talking trash. they were like 12 years old by the way. What am I going to do? smack them lolol

My favorite was '98 Arkansas and the Stoerner fumble. I don't think I've ever seen a game like that before or after that game on tv or in person.

The worst game I've been to was probably getting drilled in the ground by Fla. last year. I thought we were probably going to lose, but there was a little bit of me that wanted to believe that we were still somewhat of a competitive program with Fulmer, and then I quickly returned to reality.

I really didn't have the resources to get to many games before I became a student, so my sample size is pretty limited.

Best: 2006 Cal, 2006 Alabama
Worst: 2009 Florida, Alabama

The UAB game wasn't really a good one to be at either. My seat was right in the sun, which was almost as miserable as watching Crompton, and I swore that if Stocker dropped another ball I'd walk on the team as a tight end. At least UT actually won the UAB game. The only saving grace for 2009 was that I was driving through Nashville when the Wyoming loss became official, so I wasn't there. I expected to see a mushroom cloud in my rearview mirror.

Best-
1. 1998 FL
2. 2004 FL
3. 1998 ARK
4. 2002 ARK (was front row in the end zone that Witten scored in and caught Kelly Washingtons sweat band)
5. 2006 Cal

Worst - 1. No question 2001 GA that high to low feeling will never be forgotten
2. 2000 FL (the noncatch)
3. 2002 FL (romp at end of first half in pouring rain with fumbles galore)
4. 2005 Vandy (does it get anyworse)
5. 1996 FL I was only 11 then and didn't understand that we could lose with Peyton Manning when everyone said we were going to win it all.

Best:
2007 Georgia was nice. 28-0 at halftime. But the 2006 Cal game has to be the best. After the season before, that game was just a release of a year of frustration. Hardesty's run where he just dragged a defensive tackle was, for me, the epitome of that. I still remember the headline in the Tennessean: "Jubilant Vols climb back up Rocky Top."

Worst:
2008 against Alabama. The Florida game was bad, but for the Alabama game I had tried to convince my friend to come with me from Nashville, and that we had a chance in that game. He didn't, so I ended up alone in the upper deck of Neyland (literally about two rows in front of the Bama section) watching us fail to score when given the ball at about the 10 yard line and watching us lose by 20 to maybe our most hated rival. That was more frustrating to me than the 2006 LSU game or last year's Florida game. The 2006 Florida game was kind of annoying too though, as a pick six was called back for what seemed to be a bogus roughing the passer call. As you probably remember, we lost by 1. But for all of these other games, I was at least with friends and family.

19 Sep 1994

Best and worst game

It was my indoctrination to UT football. Got to throw eggs at the UF bus as they came down Neyland Dr. It rained so hard that water was flowing down the aisles like a river. Realized my love of the Vols and hatred of the Gators that day. We lost 31-0 after losing our Qb(Jerry Colquitt) in the 1st game vs UCLA but we were optimistc with our freshmen Stewart and Manning. Again, didn't go so well that day but in the end our class faired pretty well.

Best - 1982 Bama game. First win in 12 years and I have a piece of the goal post. Also, the 1998 FL game. I can still see Tee Martin scrambling to set up the winning FG in OT.
Worst - GA "Hob-nail boot" game.

Best: 2004 Florida/Tennessee game in Knoxville. I never heard Neyland ROCK before like that. I think my hands were bleeding after all those high fives. I wasn’t able to talk the next day from yelling....Def worth it though.

Worst: 2002 Florida/Tennessee game in Knoxville. The game was played on my birthday. My tickets were exactly underneath the overhang, and it was pouring rain. Casey Clausen fumbled the ball like 4 times because he couldn’t hang on to it. Probably the game that elevated Rex Grossman to Florida "GOD" status. I was soaked and wet and pissed. I was determined to get my money’s worth, so I stayed until the end.....Rex Grossman is to this day my most despised football player of all time..

I haven't been to a ton of games in Neyland. I live out west now, and even though I grew up in Oak Ridge, my old man didn't take me much. I travel back to Knoxville for a game now and then.

I've only seen the Vols lose once in person. It was to Arkansas in a very close game in 1993, I think. My best Neyland experience was probably in 2003 when we beat SC in OT.

My best Vols game experience was the '99 Fiesta Bowl, baby! That was one good thing about living out here. Drove to the game in just a few hours.

College Gameday baby!! Lee Corso picked us that game, so I should have known we were doomed...

My best experience:

2004 against Florida. I've never heard anything as loud as when Wilhoit made the 50-yarder. The whole stadium exploded and my friend almost threw me down the bleachers.

My worst experience:

2006 against LSU. Watching as Jamarcus Russell put together the game winning drive as we dropped back in the famous "Mustang" package. Frustration and anger.

best 1982 Alabama - after all those losses the excitement would not die.

worst 2001 Georgia - the emotions as a fan from Stephens TD to the losing were two exterme highs and lows... can't imagine how it felt to staff and players
