The timing on this thread is interesting. On 3HL in Nashville (104.5) last week they were discussing how sports talk radio in Knoxville is difficult because you pretty much have to talk UT sports 24/7 (and UT Football 90% of the time). I love UT, but I think I would get sick of it if that's all that was discussed. I love golf and baseball, and even enjoy HS sports talk form time to time. Does anyone in Knoxville follow the Smokies baseball team?
I think all of the sports shows around here do a pretty good job of mixing things up. The Titans probably do get the bulk of coverage, but I would say it's less than 50% and a lot of Titans talk ends up being NFL in general. I root for the Preds but honestly more than 5 minutes on the NHL and I tune out unless it's something very specific.
I guess my point is on game day, or even game week, I understand 100% UT football. But between now and August don't you want to hear something different? Would you rather discuss the field at the Masters, the NFL draft? Or would you rather spend an hour reviewing a spring scrimmages that was closed to the media?
