We have some of the best fans in the world in any sport. We have some crazies but when it comes down to it the majority of our fan base is amazing! The “Empty Neyland” movement started by some of the “crazies” ended up being won over buy the majority of the great fan base and gave up over 300 opportunities to South Knox elementary students who had never been to a game and probably wouldn’t have ever went. This will be a memory for those children for the rest of their lives and will become some of the die hard Volnation faithful in the future! We all remember the first game someone else wether it be our father or friends family took us too. Be sure to remember this is a wonderful time in our life and something we all get to enjoy together as a commmunity and a great distraction from the tough parts of life we all go through. We should have a thread in this forum for some of us willing to give up tickets to games of all sports we have that we are unable to go to and make sure families of local kids not as fortunate can get to. There were 2 wins tonight in Neyland!

I’ll tell you what. I’m just as ready to fire Butch as anyone else on here. If you can’t see the good in letting kids go to a Vols game for the first time you have serious issues in life my friend. This is a perfect example of “crazy” not the majority.

That's a pretty ridiculous statement! He's had a couple of 9 win seasons and has recruited very well. He's just not a good coach but he has given his all for Vols.

awesome stuff! GBO & glad those kids got to see there first game. Hope they remember '17 USM as fondly as I remember '86 UTEP

I'm not saying your wrong, or crazy, or whatever, but are you sure he has GIVEN his all? I have been lead to believe he as being paid over four million dollars a year to coach our team. If he is GIVING of his time and efforts-and not being paid (and paid very well), I'm going to reassess my opinion of the great butch. Thanks for the informative post!:hi:

Yep, or as fondly as I remember us beating Alabama in 1982, watching the Bear walk off our field in his houndstooth hat in his final loss in Knoxville. Was there--loved it. I'll never see it again, and the kids in South Knoxville won't see anything like it unless we get a great coach in there who is committed and ABLE to bring us back to that point again.
