Best thing about tonight's Supreme pick

What's so shocking about this? If the Dems were choosing between Maxine Waters, Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer for some appointment, wouldn't the GOP do the same.

The GOP generally aren’t the types to engage in astroturfed protests.

I’m trying to remember what the reaction was to Kagan or Sotomayor

The GOP wouldn't have to screech about those 3. Your own party would nix them.

Hell they're trying to get rid of Nancy right now.

everyone freaking out about abortion as usual and as usual nothing will change

Exactly. Left is raging that Roe v Wade will be overturned with Kavanaugh on SCOTUS. Right is celebrating. Both are wrong. It's not going anywhere. Kavanaugh is actually a pretty moderate pick. I'm honestly surprised that Trump selected him.

And still far more decent, honest, moral, and intelligent than our current POTUS. Go figure.

How the hell do you come up w/stupid sh!t as that? Crying Chuckie boy doesn't care about you or your family because you're a low life white American. Just so you know that fact, you can now take your big nose out from being up in his butt. Chuckie boy is a pos of the highest order for a Democratic politician. Chuckie boy is not a decent & honest person in any sense of the word. He's at the top of the azz-hole pole.

Not sure how soon, but I think there’s a reasonable chance it’s going to happen.

I don't. No way the courts are going to force a woman to carry a baby to term. I've said I'm no fan of abortion, but the woman's rights will trump those of an unborn fetus. I could see restrictions placed on abortion of a viable fetus, as there is precedent for that. However, if the fetus is not capable of living outside the womb, the rights of the living mother will take precedence. We aren't going to start jailing pregnant women and forcing them to carry to term. Just won't happen.

I think we should focus on discouraging abortion as a means of birth control and encouraging other methods. Offer assistance to women for carrying to term and putting the baby up for adoption.

I agree wholeheartedly. Unfortunately, the religious wing tends to err on the side of Abstinence Only and "if you don't tell kids about it, they won't do it." That dog don't hunt.

Then there's the conversation about Pro-Birth people masquerading as Pro-life, when they couldn't give two ****s what happens to the child after it's born. We've got to fix that, too.

What little I've read and heard about Kavanaugh since last night, he seems like a standard center-right, small c conservative. And I don't mean that as an insult, I'm surprised Trump managed to pick someone that isn't insane.

Only concerns I have so far are his views on executive power. The Executive branch has too much leeway as it is, he/she doesn't need added leniency. And I'm not a fan of his views on investigations into the executive. Kind of a red flag considering Trump is under investigation.

The hearings should be a dumpster fire to behold for both sides.

What is Trump being investigated for?

It should be obvious.

That quoted text speaks generally to waiting on civil or criminal cases until he's out of office.

I can see it if it's a lawsuit over a contract. Or a criminal investigation for something relatively pretty.

But what if the point of the criminal investigation is to determine whether the person was elected as the beneficiary of a crime?

When that is the issue then it can't wait until after he leaves because the consequence should be that he is removed from office.

its doesn't say he can't be investigated. just that he shouldn't face charges in a court. he states it is Congresses job to respond as judge and jury when it comes to the president, not judge and jury.

he does not say it CAN'T be done, he just says HOW it can be done.
