I used to love sports talk radio for a while, mainly ESPN Radio, but now I can't stand it.
Mike and Mike's schtick got really old really fast. And like someone mentioned earlier, all their comedy bits are so rehearsed, I can only shake my head at how dumb they sound.
Cowherd was ok at first, a national show that covered all the bases with an emphasis on football seemed right up my alley. But, that faded too. His football coverage turned into Notre Dame, USC, and Pac-10 coverage. Whenever someone actually makes valid points to disagree with his arguments, his only defenses are to scream and say how ridiculous they are and hang up on them, or play the "it's my show" card. He comes off as being conceited and cocky as hell, and he has no reason to be either one.
DP was great when Dibs was still around, but now he usually puts me to sleep whenever I listen. His show has about 30-45 minutes of substance, the rest of the time is just him plugging one or two interviews over and over again every single segment. I'll still listen occassionally, like when Reggie Miller is on there. I'm in the minority, but I like KO for the most part. I disagree with him a lot, but for some reason he entertains me.
As far as locally, I used to listen to Dr. B and quake, but I don't pick up 102.3 anymore, so I'm stuck with ESPN. I sometimes listen to The Drive with Chris Goforth and Stump Martin, but I only listen for the laughs. None of the people they have on there know what they are talking about, especially Goforth. And Martin is a Good Ol' Boy who has tried to turn sports in the Chattanooga and North Georgia areas into nothing but politics. But, hey, at least they amuse me.
