If you have had a rough day at work, sit back and watch the third quarter of the 1990 Florida game (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjUiPp7nGEw); it will certainly put a smile on your face.

In a battle of top-10 teams, Tennessee entered the third quarter, leading 7-3. At the end of that period, Tennessee had reeled off 28 unanswered points, initiated by Dale Carter's 90-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Von Reeves later hit Carl Pickens on a 47-yard touchdown pass off of a reverse. Tony Thompson and the Tennessee Valley Authority absolutely gashed Florida with the running game and the defense intercepted two passes, including one returned for a touchdown.

If you can think of another game in which Tennessee has played more perfectly in a single quarter and dominated an outstanding opponent in the process, let me know.

That was a great game. I've seen the replays but I was a baby when that game happened.

Miracle in South Bend might take the cake for best quarter/half though.

Is this a quote? It reads like sports-reporter speak.

Seems like the cotton bowl against Texas A&M had a big quarter but I can't remember the exact points.

It gets my vote too.

Best Jekyll and Hyde half's for sure. It seemed ND could make the score whatever they wished in the first half. All my buddies quit watching at half time to go bar hopping. I stuck it out and was so mad when I thought ND would kick a field goal and win after such a great comeback. Butt, blocked that kick!!! Totally unbelievable.

I have to agree with Florida 1990; that was my first game in person. Plus I had a good looking blonde with me as my date for the game.

Recently : 2nd quarter against UGA last year. I had a blast during the last 5 minutes of that quarter.

I'd say the second half of the LSU game in '05 or '06. It's the one that was moved to Monday because of a hurricane. Was one of the most exciting halfs of football I've seen live.

This might not make anyone else's list... but for me the first quarter of the '09 South Carolina game on Halloween was my favorite. It probably helps that I actually got to go to that game, and all the first quarter action happened right in front of our seats. The stadium was electric with The Ole Ball Coach in town and then the buzz over the special uniforms in a color that is forbidden to be mentioned here. Just my 2 cents worth, but it was definitely a great game and day to be a UT Vol!

2nd quarter of the Memphis game Bray's freshman year. It gave so much promise for the future and after the way the season had went so far it was refreshing.

The 3rd quarter at Georgia when we had to come from behind and dropped 51 between the hedges. I just remember going into the half we couldn't score or make a stop. That halftime speech had to be one of the best all-time. I believe the final was 51-32.
