IMO J T Shrout has been screwed over big time. It's the same old story I've watched it for 50 years. Coaches always say it's who looks best in practice and that my friends is horse ****. Some player practice good, but wilt when the sun comes out, JG, others come alive and shine when the lights come on. Two great examples of average practice players and all Americans when the lights come on is Reggie Cobb and Herschel Walker.Without a doubt. Commanded the offense and made every throw.
Wait - pretty sure I heard JG gives us the best chance to win - and that the others don’t have that look in their eyes.I agree with that. At this point I think the truth is Pruitt has to pick between 3 options that are all an upgrade from JG.
I’ll change that entire post to blue font.Wait - pretty sure I heard JG gives us the best chance to win - and that the others don’t have that look in their eyes.
Yes they combined to complete 75 per cent of their passes against the number 5 team in the country- yes they didn’t cough up a fumble or throw an interception- no pick sixes - but I have it on good authority by the head guru himself ........ J G gives us the best chance to win.
Maybe it was garbage time but it was live reps. He's the best poised of all the QB's and has good arm strength and accuracy. He and JG had the most practice reps in fall practice. JT has an additional year advantage over Mauer and HB in understanding Chaney's system. He and HB should be #1 and 2 on the depth chart, imo. Both read the field well and much faster than JG and I think HB is a hair faster in that dept. He's way better than both JG and Maurer. I been saying this since last year!
Good point and both drives were over 90 yds. UF was soft at times then they would blitz for some reason and with 1st stringers because Cox was called for one of the roughing penalties. UF's defense hasn't been that good this year, imo. They quit so hard that they F’ing roughed him twice. They weren’t playing a complete prevent and he actually made some pretty decent plays.
And he barely over threw Hyatt at the goal line on another deep pass. I don't know why Chaney didn't try many deep passes with HB playing. Some things just don't make much sense with this staff. I think several teams in the SEC are viewing the rest of this season as live scrimmages and just trying to develop talent instead of winning or losing and UT is one of those teams. The accuracy he has had, especially on that TD, have nothing to do with garbage time or not. That’s quality.
HB did a lot of short passes in high School also. We are a Fun slinger or Dobbs away on offense and defense has to stop the slants.Whether vs 1s or 2s. JT pushed the ball downfield....too often with JG we settle for the short pass...short of the sticks while a deeper throw is there but not taken.....HB didnt take those throws and settles for short routes and it showed when he tried to throw deep...he missed badly...JT didnt miss. Thats the difference
Right on. I'd play those 2 in the next two games if we even play them and try to work Mauer in some reps too. I think JT has the edge at the moment but HB is still growing and has a higher ceiling in the long run. JT surprised me getting out of the pocket fast like and buying time. That will be an added bonus when receivers learn to adjust and make an extra move.i think both need to play vs vandy, but i'd start JT Shrout.......
If we're lucky enough, ( because of covid ), to have some semblance of a spring practice, even if it's delayed, JT and HB should be running neck and neck for the starting position come next fall, imo. We have to develop consistency and leadership at that position if we're ever gonna move forward. Shrout looks very much like a pro QB with his pocket presence but as several posters have stated Peyton never looked that good in his 1st several games and always had jitterbug feet in the pocket, imo. That's just style and has no bearing on making the right read and calling audibles,etc......Those things are yet to be determined but I think UT will improve if they can get the practice time.I'm telling you, I don’t care if it's garbage time, start time, virtual time, whatever time, Shrout is the man. If he isn't given a legit chance going forward, he should transfer. You could see, he had command of the offense, a knowledge of what was being done, and the ability to make the throws. HB has a lot of talent, but Shrout is more ready. He should be the man going forward.
Cox had 2 personal foul penalties. I am not sure why he was still in the game.Good point and both drives were over 90 yds. UF was soft at times then they would blitz for some reason and with 1st stringers because Cox was called for one of the roughing penalties. UF's defense hasn't been that good this year, imo.
I wouldn't consider 75% of the 4th quarter 'garbage time'. UF was playing some backups, but they, we, and everybody rotates players in and out throughout the games. UF still had plenty of starters in, were still blitzing, and definitely didn't want us to score--twice. Mullin has no interest in showing UT or JP any mercy. His objective would have been, and was, to run the score up to impress the selection committee. He sure left his hot shot QB in at the risk of injury.Lol. In garbage time. Its the same **** every game
If I were in JTS's shoes I'd be arranging a way to get my hind end down to Mississippi or LSU and try and attempt to win the starting job there. I just have the gut-feeling he's gonna get the short-end of the stick if he stays in K-Town. That's what J.Fields did while CJC was OC at UGA. It's a cruel world but that kid has some talent. Just needs to see the field more. If he hits that transfer portal he's likely to have some good choices, imo.Naw. I’m not going to make that bet but I’ll go this far. How about I bet that he ends up at a power 5 school. On top of that if he ends up at an SEC school, he beats the brakes off of UT when he gets his first opportunity. Wanna make that bet?
While I agree with what you said the post you were quoting was about Maurer. Pulaski swears he’s not good enough to play P5.If I were in JTS's shoes I'd be arranging a way to get my hind end down to Mississippi or LSU and try and attempt to win the starting job there. I was aware of that and didn't want to make a long post. BM's gone, imo which actually gives JTS extra security but I'm talking about eventual NFL contract if JTS could be developed properly. Like I said it's a cruel world and he's a young kid. While I'm looking at it as negative it doesn't have to be that way but I just don't trust Chaney after the Fields - Fromme situation and then having a defensive minded HC over-seeing the matter in both cases. I'd bail and tell my girl-friend on the softball team, i'll stay in touch. He may take one for the team since the NCAA is giving a free year away. Time will tell. While I agree with what you said the post you were quoting was about Maurer. Pulaski swears he’s not good enough to play P5.
