Shrout looked good against prevent defense. He has a better arm than hb at this point but it takes more than that. Jg has a good arm too.
my assessment:
- jg is our best overall option. But he holds the ball too long, so release, and stares down receivers which leads to... turnovers that have cost us games. So by defacto, he is not the starter we need.
- shrout may have the best arm. The argument could be said that after 3 years of jg not being who we need him to be that maybe shrout should have started to begin the season. But we don’t see practice. You have to trust the coaches that shrout is enough of the following, maybe he doesn’t get us in the right plays, maybe he makes ill advised throws, maybe he does not get on the same page with his receivers, etc etc, that he was rightfully not the guy. And if there’s pressure on Pruitt to win immediately, jg gave us the best option to do that. Unfortunately he still could t get pst the turnovers, if he had we could be 5-2 right now instead of 2-5 with only losses to bama and uga.
- hb is not the strongest arm (yet), does not command the offense as well (yet), isn’t on the same page as the receivers enough (yet), etc etc.
HB is our future qb. He can read defenses. He hasn’t connect on most his throws yet, but he doesn’t make ill advised throws. He’s a freshman that had no offseason. Next year he will be: stronger, have better command of the offense, be in better timing with receivers, etc etc. He’ll be the qb we need, but he has to get the reps, and his teammates around him need to help him out: no dropped passes, no free rushers, etc etc.
