OK I went to UT and used to tailgate all over, frat row, the Fort, strip, etc.
Now, I have a 5 year old and am taking him to his first UT game in two weeks against Kentucky.

I want to know where is the best place to park and tailgate. I want to be able to take him to see Smokey and all the stuff they have at Circle Park and then let him see the band walking to the stadium and the Vol Walk;

So where can I park, on campus, preferably, for cheap so that I can have easy access to all these things?

Also, anyone has any idea what time the Kentucky game will be? My hunch is that it will be another dreadful noon game, but if there are no good SEC matchups, CBS may pick it up for the 3:30pm game which would be perfect.

Thanks!

As for the Kentucky game I doubt it'll be on CBS. I would say the take Miss and Miss St. I'm thinking late night ESPN2 or ESPNU game.

G10 parking garage. You need a pass to park but its still a great place to tailgate (close to stadium, overlooks river/Vol Navy, lots of ppl and kids running around)

I used to think G10 was the greatest and have been t-gating there for years, however the crowds have become too much to handle and along with the passes being overly-priced. If I were you I'd go to Fiji island. It's got plenty of space, free tailgating and the ag boys walk Smokey through there before every game on their way to circle park. Great place to get him a snapshot w/ Smoke and not have to stand in line to do so. Another great thing ab this spot is that it's right across the street from TREC and they keep their bathrooms open -no lengthy portapotty lines.

Where do I get passes for G10 and how much?

As for Fiji Island, how early do I have to get there to be able to park at Fiji Island or around there?

I tailgate in front of Sigma Chi every week, just east of Fiji Island. Since KY is a noon kickoff, you'll need to be there by 8 if we're going for bowl eligibility, 9 if not. Parking can be tough, so I recommend dropping off a car with all your stuff the night before (in a meter spot). The meters say they can ticket on saturdays, but they don't. As long as you're at a meter on gameday, you won't get ticketed or towed.

Yeah I was thinking about Fiji Island but also Humanities on the lawn.
How much is the permit for the parking garages and where do I get them?

All my tailgating involved walking from the Fort to the game with a stop on frat row. haha

Can you tell me where Fiji Island is? Is it on Fraternity Row. I attended Grad school at UT so I never got the chance to hang with the undergrads....

Fiji Island is on Fraternity Row. Phi Gamma Delta is know as "FIJI" and is one of the UT fraternities. The local chapter is Kappa Tau(either kegs to tap or Knoxville TN depending on the day of the week).

I checked out the map and was wondering if the area that we are talking about is on the loop in front of the house or behind it? I am guessing that it's on the front side...

Do you need to put money in the meter during the game and while you are tailgating? I believe that the metered spots are on Volunteer Blvd. or are they on Fraternity Row Dr.? Last one, do they frown upon adult beverages since it's on campus or are you good with a cup? Sorry for the newbie questions...
