If you are coming from the West I'd suggest Turkey Creek area. Like the Hampton or something, but you'd better get on it now.

I'm staying at the Holiday Inn downtown, which is really nice and located right on World's Fair Park. The Sheraton Cumberland house is really nice, too. I stayed there for the Orange and White game, but all the rooms were booked a month ago for the first game, so I took the Holiday Inn instead. If you're going to the Big Orange Blast, you'd be right there in the midst of it! Also, you're pretty much in the middle of Old City and the strip, as well as walking distance from Calhouns on the river.

First time posting. I am heading down to the UCLA game from Toronto and I am looking for some advice on a good hotel to stay at for the Friday and Saturday night. Something in walking distance is needed. Any help is appreciated

Most of the downtown, within walking distance of the stadium, places are probably already booked for the opener, Cal and all of the major SEC homes games but you might get lucky. If you want to stay downtown, most everywhere requires two night minimum booking. Also, like most places, rates do go way up on football weekends. I cannot speak for all sides of town, but everywhere I have stayed in Turkey Creek area offers shuttle service to and from the game so you can get yourself a throwaway cooler and hit the tailgates knowing you have a safe ride. Also, cabs are not hard to come by in my experience.

this is my list, in order of preference...all within walking distance...

1. Four Points Sheraton/Cumberland House - White Ave
2. Hilton Downtown - W. Church Ave
3. Hampton Inn - W. Main St
4. Holiday Inn @ Conv. Center - Henley St

I'd wager that any hotel within a 10 mile radius is probably booked up already...

It's not over a mile and my g/f walked it in heels so it shouldn't be bad at all. You can't get closer if you pay to park anywhere, so it's well worth it. I took a shuttle from a hotel and didn't get closer to the stadium than the walk from the Holiday Inn, so either way you'll have to walk a little ways.

The walk from the Holiday Inn or the Sheraton would both probably be very challenging for your dad. The Holiday Inn is at least a mile to get to your seats. Plus there are several hills between the hotels and the stadium. Options would be to take a taxi or to drive to the ag. campus and take the shuttle. If I'm not mistaken, the shuttles drop you off behind the Univ. Center (Phillip Fulmer Way).

Others can give you more information about the shuttles.
