I was given a great tip and tried The Pizza Palace on Magnolia- it has even been featured on the Food Channel- IT WAS GREAT !!!!!- good crisp, but yet chewy crust, great sauce-not skimpy- lots of cheese - and good, fresh toppings-- Is there any better ?- PS - seats are limited inside, but a few exist-beer available too- better that eating in your car-outside tables areoption in good weather._Also great onion rings & sides. Any other nominations ???? THANKS.

Never been there, but I'm quite partial to I <3 NY Pizza off Chapman. Also Oscar's works out pretty well too, but I'm more of a 'zone guy there.

A guy I work with is from Knoxville and he told me that the next game I got to try stephono's (I probably butchered it sorry folks) on Cumberland ave. Is it as good as he's telling me?

No, and the atmosphere is even worse. Unless you like crunchy hippies. But that doesn't sound like you Grizz.

If you want better pizza go across the street to Oscars or Mellow Mushroom.

Stefano's is good as long as you chase it with half a pack of exlax.

MMushroom is ok.

Barley's in old city is my favorite in that part of town.

Marios is very thin crust but good.

Stefano's whole wheat crust and chicken with alfredo sauce is amazing.

Mellow Mushroom is consistently good.

Mangia is very tasty.

Snappy Tomato is not very expensive...

Now I am hungry...

Tomato Head in Market Square is the best pizza in Knoxville. There is a place on Kingston about 3 miles from campus, I think it's called Hard Knox, that place is good also. Barley's is also very good if you want a bar atmosphere.

If you don't mind a 25 minute or so drive. Big Ed's in Oak Ridge is amazing.

Pizza Palace, Barley's and Stefano's are all good.

The hardest part about driving down Magnolia to Pizza Palace is not pulling into Chandler's and grabbing some amazing food.

Pizza Palace is ok. Sort of like Big Eds...if you grew up with it, it's awesome. If you didn't, you'll probably be a little underwhelmed. But, no reason not to try it.

I find Stefano's good but I only visit once every year or two. It's more Chicago with lots of cheese and sits like a brick in your stomach.

Exactly. On more than one occasion, I've been taking someone who heard about Pizza Palace on Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives there to eat and said "The Hell with it. We're going to Chandler's." Nobody has ever complained about the decision.

I tried Pizza Palace for the first time a little over a year ago and wasn't underwhelmed at all.

Big Ed's, now there's a flash back for me (back in the 80's)...best pizza I had at the time. They had the cheese part down pat. Sounds like the place is still open.

Hard to beat stone fired or brick oven pizza....generally they all beat the traditonal oven baking crust pizza.
