As a way of saying thanks to this year's edition of the Tennessee football team, I thought we might each take a player and offer a word or two about the value of their contributions this season...

I'll start with two guys, bookends really.

Dan Williams and Demonte Bolden.

From an exasperating question mark at the season's dawn, these two young'uns have grown to provide some physical stability to the defensive front. Their willingness to keep learning and get stronger has impressed me. They represent a solid foundation going into the future. Way to go guys!

So, lay another us someone...

My hat's off to Dennis Rogan.

Without his clutch returns (and ST tackle vs Vandy), I don't know if we would be in ATL this weekend. Hopefully, we'll see him take one to the house tomorrow!

I'll take Eric Berry because his contributions are well documented....if only all our recruits could contribute as early and often when they start their college carrer.

i'm going to give some love to Erik Ainge and Arian Foster.

Ainge has been the steady, consistent leader we needed from a SR qb, and while he may not have littered the tv with highlight reel material, it's what didn't make highlights that is worth noting.

Arian Foster exceeded what i though he would be capable of this year. I was very skeptical about him coming in, and all he's done is rush for over 1000 yards, prove to be a solid pass catcher and most importantly, hang on to the ball.

Since I can't take the whole offensive line, I'll randomnly pick Ramone Foster. He and the others have really been a huge improvement since 2005.

G. Jones

Thanks for that great effort on 3rd and 7 in OT against UK as well as for the terrific TD catch.

I hope you get your hands on the ball in the SECCG.

Ditto my man.

surprised Jerrod Mayo hasn't been mentioned yet.....his play the 2nd half of the season shouldn't go unnoticed.

I'll say... Key catches, great blocker, a tremendous leader. Maybe the most under appreciated of all by the casual fan. Not by the coaches though...
he has a ton of hear too. very cliche, i know, but it's true. when they talk about "effort".......i envision his stretching out to get that 1st down.......i forget what game it was though.......

Very difficult to pick out one, might be easier to do so tomorrow night, but I would go with Ainge. I think after it is all said and done we will find out he has really been hurting, finger and whatnot. Got to give a lot of credit to the O line, as their protection of Ainge has kept his injuries from getting worse.
As to pure entertainment just flat out fun to watch, mayo and berry. GO VOLS (ps I am hoping Heff comes to play Sat. I would love to have him be the MVP of SEC championship game).

Britton Colquitt- Kind of a forgotten man this season but has been a solid, consistent performer.

Chris Scott. He replaced Young in the lineup and there hasn't been a dropoff at all.

Rico McCoy = He's starting to settle in and he's making some plays.

Arian Foster = He's proved a lot of people wrong. He is a SEC caliber back

Dan Williams = He's physically manhandled the opposing OL at times, he seems to always be in the middle of a big play

Lucas Taylor = He's going to be a 1,000 yard receiver. Who would have thought that?

I'll show some love for Antonio Reynolds.

They say it's not how you start, but how you finish. And, while the senior had a fairly quiet career in Knoxville, he's made a lot of noise over the last few games.

Brad Cottam - Injured right before the Cal game. Showed Flashes of what could have been this season in the Kentucky game. - Good luck in the NFL.

On Defense I have to go with Jarod Mayo and Rico Mcoy, they both have been amazing.

I'm gonna go with Inky Johnson

Leading by example everyday of his life....I've heard most of the Vols say that when times are tough and they are feeling down that Inky is right there with encouragement and let's face it, how can one feel sorry for oneself about his play or his life after looking at that big smile on Inkys face despite his misfortune......I tip my hat to Inky Johnson for what he stands for and what he still brings to this football team.

Thanks Inky.......:salute:

brent vinson

starting at WR then moving to CB shows a lot about this guy, he saved a TD against Kentucky late and he's been playing with his shoulder banged up but i think he could develop to be a great corner... and of course Inky!
