If Mays wins his appeal this becomes even more important.

Even without Mays we're deep at OL. And thin / weak at TE.

I see us using 6 lineman on more than just goal line and short yardage. Not all the time but enough to be a regular formation we use.

Who do you want as that TE / 6th lineman.

The last half of the season saw a significant improvement over 2018.

We were also the worst P5 OL in 2018 so literally anything would have been better.

They were better the 2nd half of the season but they werent the 2nd coming of the Hogs as many think on here. They went from dreadful to decent with still a couple of offensive clunkers and red zone issues to boot.

I expect the same pct of improvement in 2020. OL may be the best position group on the Vols now.

OL probably make a bigger leap in year two than any other position on a team although I'm sure that's debatable. Our OL has tremendous talent and hopefully it will mature (which is the position that takes a while to do) this year to be one of the best in the SEC. Hopefully we can dominate the ones we should and "hold their own" with those teams with strong defensive fronts. With a bigger, stronger (20 lbs bigger I think) Gray at tailback we may be able to push the line and lean on those DL's more especially in the fourth quarter where the strength of an OL is observed. But that's why we play the game!

We were playing 2 Freshman at Tackles. IF Mays can play we are adding a proven SEC lineman, plus returning everyone from a unit that was starting to click. The improvement will be there.

Does Grant Williams still have any eligibility?

I'm not sure. Basically you have to take the starters and one backup at G, T, and C out of consideration. Then you lineup the rest and fire away with the jugz machine. Fewest drops out of 40 attempts gets a crash course at TE.

Allen moved from LB to TE and there is Pope and the two good red shirt freshmen.

The last half of the season we were not playing very good teams.

Kentucky and MS State had pretty good defenses last year if I recall correctly. Of course, I don't recall exactly how well our OL played in those 2 games.

And Warren also. Our TEs as a group are a bit green, but they have been groomed and built up and just need some pt. They will be blooded after a couple of games.
