Sorry to steal this from you bnhunt, thought it was a good thread...curious about who everyone thinks was the best LB and most underrated in UT history?
Through a mutual friend, I got to spend some time with Jack back 4-5 years ago. He can barely walk thanks to all the old football injuries. More from his Rams / 49er days than Vols. Rather sad....
Yeah, that is true. Now that I think about it a little more, Al Wilson would be the best becuase he was the heart and soul of a natinal championship team.
Best - part of me wants to say one of the old timers, like Jackie Walker, Kiner, Reynolds, but based on what he did in 3 years and how he is doing now I would throw Jerod Mayo into the mix.

Kiner/Reynolds/Wilson all deserve to be part of any discussion like this, but if you talk to the guys that played around Jackie they will tell you to a man that he was good for at least 5 of their wins. He was that much better than the people he played around.
Wilson is a legend, but he played on some stacked defenses.
My favorite- Noch.. Dude was fearless and never gave up.. I remember being at a game when I was young... The other team was winning and were n victory formation, about to take a knee.. Raynoch dove over the line when the qb got the ball and drilled him.. When most sane individuals would've given up, he was still trying.. I hadn't seen anyone do that before at the the time.. Thought it was awesome.
I need to elaborate; Little wasn't necessarily underrated. I meant that more in the context of "what could he have been without other defensive studs around him" kind of way.
