Best in the country?

I was stuck on B/R for a few minutes so I decided to check out some articles. I came across something that struck me as somewhat high. The writer called our LB group one of the best if not the best in the COUNTRY.

Where do you project they end up production wise as a group? Top 5 Top 10?

Nah, one of the best in the Galaxy man!

We have some beasts at LB..

That being said.. BR is garbage

Agree with all of this.

Here's a nice little pic of Maggitt, A.J., and Raiques Crump just for the Hell of it:

Tennessee's LBs aren't top 3 in the SEC, let alone the country.

I would agree with that. Alabama has set the bar at the LB spot so high there aren't any teams really close.

LSU has ridiculous speed and UGA was gifted Jarvis Jones. UF has a lot of talent too.

That being said, those 4 teams are right there in the "best in the nation" talk. You could be the 5th best LB group in the SEC and be around 11th overall in the country. Now do I think Tennessee's LBs are that good? No, due to depth.

Tennessee's depth at LB is terrible, but the starting 3 in Maggitt, Johnson and Lathers are better than the last 4 or 5 years at Tennessee. Jacques Smith is all based on Sal figuring out what to do with him.

I think this group is going to be awesome..Smith and Johnson alone are rock solid. Maggit is going to be productive as well. Lathers may not be the same guy he was in 2010 and therefor he is the question mark.

It's no secret that our depth is lacking, but if we can get a ton of 3 and outs and no significant injuries then I dont see depth being a MAJOR deal. Fingers crossed for having one of the best D's in the SEC.

CSS could be DD's savior and the one piece we've been missing..

I read the same article on B/R too. It's just one ?writer? 's orange-tinted opinion, nothing more, nothing less. I love that he/she felt that way, and it's good to just read positive articles such as this one was. I'm of the same opinion. I believe that we can be as good as any trio in the country, on any given day. We will also have our stumbling blocks along the way too. I've a feeling that the change to the aggressive style of Sal's 3-4 will tend to get us in trouble if we try to get too fast too quick. I've watched Tn football since the early sixties, and this team shows as much promise as any team, with the possible exception of the Manning era.

It might have been on B/R, and by someone that's a big Vol fan, but just think about it. AJ was all-SEC last year wasn't he? Maggitt was second-team SEC if I'm not mistaken. Lathers was a pretty good lb himself in 2010, so who's to say that those three couldn't be one of the best units in the country. I'll tell ya who, and that's someone that doesn't like the Vols. At this point, who knows? I'm gonna say we COULD be in the top five, but just think for a minute, two of the three will only be Sophomores, so what does the future look like? Very bright JMO
