Saw this article on SDS and thought it was an interesting topic. Can you think of any others that deserve to be on the list of guys from Tennessee who excelled during their time on the hill?

QB Andy Kelly
RB Jalen Hurd
WR Cedrick Wilson
DL Reggie White
LB Al Wilson
DB Andre Lott

Best in-state recruits: Tennessee

A bit before my time. Anything about him specifically that you remember?

Not really. Flowers was the primary receiving weapon and Pickens had most of the runs. I think that Gary Kreis was the split end and caught a lot of passes (for the era). Richmond Flowers was my big sister's favorite... she had his page torn out of the little Kick-Off booklet and had it on her bulletin board. Bubba was Sam's brother and Flower's father was the Alabama AG and took a lot of grief for standing up for civil rights. Richmond had world class speed and The Bear wanted him really bad. I actually read most of that... I'm not old enough to remember it happening. Pickens is the guy in the films from that era usually covered in mud and had those huge hip pads sticking out of his uniform. The mud was before 1968 for home games since the Tartan Turf was installed in Neyland that year.

Curt Watson, the "Crossville Comet". I admit bias, having gone to h.s. with Curt.

I forgot that Atkins was from TN. I almost added him but I was thinking that he was from West VA. It's probably Cafego that I was thinking of from WVa.

WR - Thomas 'TD' Woods - Gallatin. held some UT receiving records in the 80s I believe. Had a brother play RB at Vandy.

Was Gaines (Greg?) from TN? His brother (Chris?) played at Vandy, so I bet he might be. He married a cheerleader from Knoxville.

I think the Swamp Rat and Bobby Scott were from just across the GA border near Chatty. And of course Heath was from just across the NC border. Seems like our 1st Heisman runner-up was from out of state (Lauricella).

Looks like Terence Cleveland is from Sweetwater. I always associate TD and TC with each other... seems like they're in the same class and were about the same height and had similar single digit jersey numbers (4 & 5?).
