I played in a flag with contact off the line league in Memphis around ‘94 and the wrestlers had a team. Lawyer was qb and wore gloves on both hands. Sid Vicious was on the line and would just shove us down with one hand. I can’t recall who else. The Memphis wrestling crew. Whoever was playing Dundee’s son was there too.

Lalwer used to have a softball team he would travel around with playing whoever. They were pretty good. They were called Lawlers Army

I played against Shazon Bradley. He was a man amongst boys from middle school through high school. He was a year older than me and everyone was scared to death after his first carry. This was in a summer scrimmage game. One of our toughest players hit him from the right DE spot on an off tackle run. Our DE lowered the boom with perfect form and all you saw on film was the back of his head bounce off the ground. Shazzon ran over him like a freight train. Our guy got up and said in the huddle, “I ain’t even going try to hit that MF’er, just give him the points, he don’t need to kill us all! This was from a tough, hard hitting dude. I was glad I was 2nd string. He was a beast and a super nice person. Had great sense of humor. If coaches would have left him in one position at UT he could have been great. He played every defensive position except secondary. I bet they put 50-60 lbs on him from arriving on campus until he was a senior.

I got to play basketball against Ramon Foster and also against Mark Gasol in high school. Can’t say either of them were as impressive as Patrick Willis was for Bruceton football, though.

A few years later I was both lucky and unfortunate enough to play intramural basketball against a team that consisted of Robert Meechum, Justin Harrell, and Inky Johnson. I can’t remember who the others were on that team, but Coach Fulmer came to watch them beat us unmercifully. I had to shoot jump shot 3 pointers to get the ball off, because they were all freakishly strong and athletic. I want to say I made the first one I attempted and one of the football players said “Damn! They got JJ Reddit on their team!”

Corey Brewer was the best I have seen in basketball.

Eric Westmoreland when he was at Marion County was crazy good.
Cedrick Wilson was great to watch as well.

I was on the football staff at Humboldt and we played Marion County and Westmoreland his senior year for the State Championship at Vandy. We had played Cedric Wilson at QB Melrose team in the quarter finals. They were undefeated...ranked No.1 in the State and top 10 in the country in the USA Today rankings. They ran the spread offense and we killed them running the Solid I offense....we pulled...trapped and countered their butts all night and they couldn't stop us.....In the semi finals we beat Portland at Portland in the hardest hitting game I've ever been part of. Portland scored on the final play of the game to pull within 1 and zero time left on the clock...They decided to go for 2 and the win on a cold, muddy field. They went to a kid that they went to at crunch time many times that we had seen on film. Our corner keyed on him and dropped him for a 3 yard loss...We couldn't believe they went to him again...

That Portland game was so hard hitting we were not sure we'd have enough players to play in the State championship game the next week because we were so banged up. And my ears still ring from that damn train whistle Portland blew all flipping night...And that was 30 years ago. Lol

My buddy was the guy that got the play call in the huddle that he was getting the ball. He said when they got into formation the guy that tackled him, pointed at him and said "I got you". He said his biggest regret was not telling the QB, who was the guy that scored on the run, to keep the ball. Even with losing to Humboldt a lot of people consider it to be the best team Portland has fielded.

He was, not sure if he was the same class.

My senior year we played Howard in the Regionals ( Basketball) at the old Big Mac on UTC’s campus. Four of Howard’s starting five were Reggie, Charles Morgan, Stanford Strickland ( was a good 6’6 post at UTC) and James Williams (6’5 PG that had a very good career at Vandy). Reggie was just a sophomore at Howard that year but was already 6’4 and about 240.

Way late to this thread, but the best i seen was Antonio London from Tullahoma. He was a one man wrecking crew when we played them.

Mikal Smith at Bearden
Michael Bush(Male) and Brian Brohm(Trinity) and they played against each other in Louisville.
Harrison Smith at Catholic was pretty good too.
Desean Bishop was something to see, too

Dustin Moore is a close second to VanZant. I can't remember the total, but Moore had something close to 1000 total yards in a single game. Someone from Greeneville can check me on that
