I got my nephew tickets to the UT Martin game. I've been to about 15 games over the last 10 years, but I usually end up driving in, parking, walking to the stadium, watching the game, and then leaving.

I've only been to the Vol walk once, but that's the main thing I'm thinking.

Are there any events/tailgates for children, like a place to meet Smokey (the dog and/or costume mascot)?

Any other pregame activities your recommend?

Park at Market Square. Ride the trolley to the corner of Philip Fulmer and Cumberland. Short walk over to Volunteer Village next to Circle Park for pregame activities.

I’m happy for you and hope you both have a great time. My son remembers bits and pieces of us going to games when he was younger. Now he’s a 19 yr old sophomore on Rocky Top.

With that said, there is a lot to do, including food, outside of the Humanities bldg. They have games etc for the kids but my son and I used to toss the pigskin as he pretended to be a TN Vol WR.

Also, you can go inside the bldg to use the facilities and even walk into a classroom. It’s not a big deal but your nephew will go back home and tell bus buddies he was inside a college classroom -lol.

Get his picture taken with Smokey. Either the real deal, if available, or the costume version. Get there earlier enough to have a front row spot on the Vol walk and try to get a reach out, "hand to hand" slap from a player. We setup around the exit of Circle Park and my daughter got one from the man, Mr. Trey Smith.
