Theyy had the better teams with more stability in the program. Clausen had the great victory over Spurrier in 01, but in 03 he beat an 8-5 team coached by Ron Zook. He was also 0-2 vs UGA, while Dobbs was 2-0. That's like claiming that Clausen beat Bama (but leaving out the context that he was playing against Mike Shula and Franchione, while Dobbs played against Nick Saban coached teams).Dobbs had two total wins against UGA/ Bama and Florida. Ainge had 6 and went to Atlanta. Clausen won twice in Gainesville and Twice in Tuscaloosa and went to Atlanta. I love Joshua Dobbs but he’s 3rd out of those 3.
Who they were playing against and what kind of NFL careers they had;are not particularly relevant. You’re rated in this program by what you do against Bama and Florida. The end. Now UGA is starting to become part of that but it’s not there yet. Dobbs beat UGA in Richts last year and in Kirby’s first on a miracle play. Absolutely agree that Dobbs made Butch relevant. Also I shorted Dobbs a win because he ABSOLUTELY beat Florida. That being said, Clausen QBd the biggest win of this century in Gainesville.Theyy had the better teams with more stability in the program. Without Dobbs, Butch would have flamed out earlier than he did. Out of those 3, Dobbs is the only one who survived as a viable backup in the NFL. Dobbs was the only one who was an All-SEC quarterback. They were all fine QBs, but I take Dobbs out of the 3.
