Serious question, because I really haven't paid that much attention to the position coaches. Chaney was already in place (as was Thompson,) and Wilcox seems to be considered a good get, but who else should I be impressed that we have? Who are the impressive assistants he has assembled?

I see that Hiestand and Badgett have some pretty impressive experience, and Smith had his consulting thing going. Who are the strengths of the staff?

if jim chaney cannot call the right plays vs john chavis on third down and 6 or greater we are in for a long day. i know that you can run a slant route when chavis goes into mustang/ prevent D on third and long and get a first down as does the rest of this board and any vol fan who has seen any of chavis's defenses that he has coached at Tennessee.

I haven't been impressed with anything , players or staff. You have to give them a couple of year though regardless. They're playing without a full deck. Tackling however is a fundamental that our guys just seem to lack year after year. The deal with having 10 guys out there more than once yesterday was bad too.

They'll continue to struggle with that ignoring the middle of the field. Throwing the ball Stockers way twice a game isn't going to cut it.

Vols can still win at least 6 games and go to a bowl and that would be better than expected for Dooly's first year. We need to upset either UGA or Uscjr. :pepper:

UGA looks pretty shoddy so that is a likely possibility. I think that Coach DD would love more than anything to beat his mentor, Nick Saban. Unlikely but we are due.
