True, but Neyland was widely regarded as a defensive mastermind by his coaching peers. Although it was an era of rather pedestrian offenses, 107 of Neyland's 173 career wins were by shutout; two more games resulted in scoreless ties. By any standard, that qualifies as exceptional defensive play.

I'm not taking anything away from Neyland and his prowess as a great defensive coach as well. The fact of the matter is the man and legend never carried the title of defensive coordinator. If it's about DCs it's a title he never had, it was a different era of coaching and football. Who was the best drop kicker ever of UT football? Anybody from the last 40 or 50 years? Sheesh get over it.

Get over it? Contrary to Los Angeles beliefs, history did not start in 1980. Rewriting history does not change the truth.

youre right about Mauck - Flynn was LSUs starter until an injury before the 2007 SEC title game

Yes, they were disappointing, but I could tell you some reasoning behind why they were bad....
Majors didn't like that Ken was getting most of the credit from the 85, 86 season, Sugar Bowl victory over Miami.
I could tell you A LOT of stuff...

Yes, I am biased toward Ken Donahue, he's my cousin, RIP Ken...

I could tell you story's about some Bama doings back in the 50's, 60's, 70's that would make Bama fans cringe....But I wont..
I've been in Bama's locker room after games wearing a UT shirt...
I've seen things and was told things.
I know more about Bama football then most of these bama fans....

I thought it was pretty obvious that Majors throttled Ken beginning in early '86.

Was it 03 when Auburn ran it straight down our throats their first two drives? Think they were 1-3 or 1-4 going into that game. Chavis was a lost dog in the desert sand that day!
