To me, the best coaches are those who do the BEST with the LEAST talent.........thats' probably the hardest thing to do..........if you don't believe me, just ask Larry "smoker" Coker..........

List of Best Coached teams this year so far:

Wake Forest
Duke
Vanderbilt
BYU
Boise State
Kentucky

I'm sure there are many more.........When you look at rivals, these teams are made up of mostly 2 star and some 3 star players, that's it..........

When you watch them play, they all play fast, with tons of energy, enthusiasm, and very positive, with purpose and confidence...........

If we had these teams players, we would probably go like 2-10, or 1-9, or 0=10.............

and by the way, since u mentioned it, a wideout from Tennessee transferred to Tulsa, and he sucked at UT........this year he's averaged 20 yards per catch at Tulsa, makes u wonder...........

Do we always have to look for a coach within the random error that is a college football season?

We are not well-coached. Are you a Duke fan or something?

is there such a thing?? didn't know that they had football fans there :)

I was just trying to make a point that there are several teams out there, who SO FAR this season, are very well coached, in that they have won ALOT of games, with rediculously LOW rated talent...........

I am indirectly taking a SHOT at all of the the TEAMS out there, that recruit SUPERIOR talent, like Clemson, etc. that SUCK BALZ...........and yes, like us.......

No. I mean I wouldn't put much stock on the results of the one season we're still playing.

why not........are you saying that you think that so far, Tennessee is better coached than a VAnderbilt, a Duke, a Wake Forest?????

Gimme a break, if we had their LOW rated players, we'd
be 0-5 I"m afraid........

I'd bet Duke has better talent than James Madison. Their accomplishments thus far mean nothing. They'll be lucky to get one more win this season.

so you think that Tennessee is better coached than Duke?? Tahts' the dumbest thing i've heard in a while.......

What would Fulmer;s or Bowden's record be if they had Duke's player???

0-5 easy

No, but every year the teams and records that would quality on your existing criteria for 'best coaches' differ... and a lot of that may simply be random.

With about 120 teams, a 10% prediction error, yields 12 teams. If your model (bad players + wins) predicts with 5% error, that gives you 6 teams. You've narrowed your list to 3 now. You're not that good. Give it up.

The fact that Duke has a good record proves Cut is a great coach............when you win ANY games at Duke, you are getting the job done, as they have next to no talent at all.....

You listed Duke as one of the best coached teams in America. They aren't. I said nothing about Tennessee.

no, the fact that Duke has a good record proves the they have played an absolutely terrible schedule. They got drilled by the only decent team they have played.
