After seeing Jimmy put up an impressive stat line yesterday, I can't help but wonder if he has or will pass Casey as the best Clausen.

In my mind, I'll take Casey anyday just for his heart, poise, and attitude.

That reminds me...........

Was watching the Oaks Christian HS game on FSN West, and Casey's doing an excellent job out there. Of course, when you have one of the greatest QB's of all time helping you out a bit, you'll do pretty well.

But yea, I'll take Casey over Jimmy.

Casey by far. Being our qb when we beat Florida, Michigan, and Miami. I will not forget that.

Yep...Casey for me as well. Kid was a fighter! And like it's already been mentioned...he had some big wins. And he was a road warrior!!

Jimmy will never touch Casey's W/L record, or his nose for competition in big games.

We'll see if they should be mentioned in the same breath after ND plays USC.

much to the chagrin of many of my fellow vol fans, i would have liked to have seen jimmy come here. he's turned into a good qb. it would have been interesting to see how things would have been for us had he picked knoxville as his hometown for 3-4 years.

Rick will be the most overlooked Clausen, but it was great that he did end up with one of his best games against LSU... classic...

Jimmy played Nevada yesterday, mark it down, Jimmy and the Irish do not have a good season and fat Charlie Weiss is gone.

Jimmy a distant 3rd. Casey being 1 and Rick not far behind. Given what Rick had to play with and what Jimbo had to play with, Rick gets the nod.

Casey no doubt :good!:

Its funny though. I remember when Rick was at LSU and he was hyped up and touted by the media to supposedly be better than Casey too! IMHO Rick's best games was the Cotton Bowl agaist Texas A&M and LSU 05.

Casey was a warrior...He was undefeated in Gainesville, Tuscaloosa, Southbend, and Miami...I'll take a qb that can do that anytime!

as far as standard sec qb play is concerned, rick was pretty terrible. nothing against the guy, but he's probably one of my least favorite vols to come through ut in recent memory. he was a very smart qb who knew the offense really well, but seemed to be out for himself at times and apparantly even threatened fulmer with quitting the team when he wasn't getting the playing time he wanted in '05. he's almost up there with the likes of josh briscoe, albert toeiana, and daniel brooks as far as i'm concerned.

Name the best team Jimmy Clausen has beaten, then compare them to the '03 Miami team. That's your answer.

Not to start anything, and I'm not saying that Crompton is as good as Jimmy Clausen, but had Jimmy came to Tenn, he would have ended up much the same as Crompton: talent that the system failed to develop. I just don't think he has enough talent by himself to overcome the system. Maybe an extra win here or there, but nothing drastically different. Essentially, he would be the one that CLK is re-tutoring late in his college career instead of Crompton.

not saying he wouldn't have, just saying that it would have been intriguing to see how things would have developed
