Usually in recruiting the numbers situation will work itself out, and I suspect that the Vols won't really have anything to worry about.

But let's say we have our best case scenario and we can get Wright, Jernigan, Richardson, Clear, Dawson, and Moore. At that point we'd be at 29 and would likely have to ask somebody to greyshirt or cut them loose.

So who would be the one to go?

I like everyone we have right now, but Jernigan is an absolute take if you can muscle him away from FSU and LSU. At first glance I thought Allan Carson, but our need for bodies at DT is too big to give up anybody, so I kinda figure it is Tino Thomas. May explain why he was poking around at Southern Miss.

Anyways I was just curious as to what everyone else thought the Vols would do if we had the luxury of getting everyone we wanted left on our board.

Alan Carson has a former teammate at Vandy so could be something to watch. Both guys are from my hometown and I know the guy at Vandy and he really wants Carson to join him at Vandy, but I have heard nothing from him about Carson actually joining him.

I am sensing an imminent major letdown/meltdown on this board if the above DOESN'T happen. Too many posters are confident that the majority of the aforementioned are "locks", whih we all know they are not.

It could just as easily come to pass that none of these guys commit, in which case VolNation would need to be placed on suicide watch.

Skeptivol does your suicide watch include the staff as well?

I'm not getting my hopes up for any of these guys. I would love to get them but, I think it's long shot that we land any of them. I hope i'm wrong but i've got a bad feeling these guys will end up somewhere else.

Do you also spend a few minutes each morning worrying whether a meteor will strike your car on the way to work?

I'd just as soon not see a bunch of posts on who we want to dump for all the recruits to see BEFORE they sign. Lets leave that bit of genius for the idiots on our competitors boards... And if you dont think recruits look here, look at the posts right now from someone on campus for a visit right now with the recruits.

Especially since we have six slots open and lottery-like odds of pulling even that many kids

Of course not. Because, according to virtually everyone in the recruiting forum, Dooley "knows what he's doing", "has a plan", is a "genius" when it comes to timing, and is looking for a "certain kind of player" that "fits his system". So, the justification would be that we didn't want them anyway (see the end of the Fulse thread, for example).

Do I think we will land all of the above players? I don't know. You don't know. Skeeter and TheDooley don't know. Because I can guarantee some of these players may not know truly until the day that they sign.

I don't think we get them all but I think we all have worked ourselves up into a frenzy and the closer it has gotten to signing day the worse it has gotten plus the rumors just kill us. LOL. It's NOT funny!!!!!:eek:lol:

I'll be happy if we close with Tiny, Clear and a LB and possibly another D-lineman even if not from the marquee list we're hoping for.

For the last time, Tino is not going anywhere, and if you don't know how many we can sign, enroll, etc. please see the thread dedicated to that. Not difficult to understand. Also, skeptivol is rivaling SGM for worst poster of the year.

Thats just as ridiculous as suggesting we pull 8 guys on nsd. Better start worrying about aliens invading, thats just as much a possibilities as your other concerns

I am shocked it took that long for someone to go here and take civility out of the conversation.

Recruiting is a business and it's unfortunate but it happens all the time. It's not a reflection of me not liking certain guys that we have committed, because I do like all of our commitments, but if the numbers don't work out it will happen from time to time.

Since it is only a few days until national signing day and this is a recruiting board, I'd say it's a pretty legitimate topic for discussion now. You need to deflate your sense of influence over these kids dramatically. If these kids let an internet message board influence the biggest decision of their lives then we may have bigger problems than not having the numbers work out.

That wasn't my question because I'm fully aware of how many we can sign and enroll. Thanks for your concern, but it's a pretty valid topic considering we may have an issue with numbers if my scenario were to play out.

It's a message board and this is the kind of discussion a message board is for.

LMAO at everyone who said this had no chance of being an issue at all. Things are shaping up pretty nicely for the Vols.

We still might not finish with the clean sweep but numbers look like they are going to be an issue to me. There are certainly worse problems to have than that.
