I hate Best Buy even more after watching this. They actually called the police.

These guys were probably more helpful and more informative than real Geek Squad members.

That Best Buy employee told the security to check every purse and bag leaving the store. They can't legally do that without providing evidence that the person being detained and searched was attempting to leave the store with unpaid merchandise. They could have opened themselves up to massive lawsuits.

Maybe they decided to treat them like actual employees? I know all Best Buy employees must have all their bags, purses, and coats checked before leaving the store. :dunno:

Best Buy just went out of business near my home, then another appliance store moved into the same space and lasted about 4 months. Seems easier to get small appliances and electronics off the net and larger ones from a home improvement store (Home Depot, Lowes) or Sams Club.

Best Buy can't legally do that either without the employees consent. If the employee refused, then I'm sure they would be fired with no legal ramifications. It's probably a condition of working there.

Essentially, once you've payed for your merchandise it is yours. You don't have to show your receipts to the people at the doors (Best Buy's guy in a yellow shirt or the Wal-Mart greeters).

It is almost always cheaper (under normal circumstances) to find electronics, appliances, and many other things online for cheaper. Even if the price is the same, most popular online stores offer free shipping and you don't have to pay tax (most of the time). If you find a good reputable seller on eBay, you won't be able to find a price that is lower!
