I'm looking to buy more games since I just bought a PS3 and am curious as to what games you would consider good deals and what games are must own. Doesn't have to be for the PS3 though, I'm just looking for new games in general.

Games I'm looking at...

12.00 Enslaved
12.50 Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
12.50 Fallout 3
15.00 Left 4 Dead
15.00 Batman Asylum
15.00 Deus Ex
15.00 Crysis 2
17.00 Borderlands
17.00 Devil May Cry HD Collection(1, 2, 3)
17.00 Gears of War 3
17.00 Dead Rising 2
18.00 Call of Duty 4: Modernwarfare
18.00 Call of Duty World At War
18.00 Just Cause 2
18.00 Dead Island
19.00 Tomb Raider HD Collection(Legend, Anniversary, Underworld)
20.00 Alan Wake
20.00 Uncharted 3
20.00 Fallout New Vegas
20.00 L.A. Noire
20.00 Heavy Rain
20.00 Mirror's Edge
20.00 Devil May Cry 4
20.00 Resistance
20.00 Catherine
20.00 Little Big Planet 2
20.00 Splinter Cell HD Collection (Splinter Cell, Pandora Tomorrow, Chaos Theory)
22.00 Prince of Persia HD Collection(The Sands Of Time, Warrior Within, The Two Thrones)
22.00 Far Cry 2
25.00 Metal Gear Solid 4
35.00 Max Payne 3
35.00 Portal 2
40.00 Metal Gear Solid HD Collection(1, 2, 3)

60.00 Mass Effect Trilogy(1, 2, 3)

I don't know if it would help but this is my current collection...

PS3
Assassin's Creed
Assassin's Creed 2
Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
Assassin's Creed: Revelations
InFamous
InFamous 2
Uncharted
Uncharted 2

360
Bionic Commando
Bioshock
Bully: Scholarship Edition
Condemned
Deadrising
Gears Of War
Gears Of War 2
Grand Theft Auto IV
Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City
Halo 3
Rainbow Six Vegas
Rainbow Six Vegas 2
Red Dead Redemption
Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare
Saints Row
Saints Row 2
NCAA 12, 09, 08
Madden 12, 08, 07
NBA 2k10, 2k8

My favorites... Bionic Commando, GTA, Rainbow Six, Read Dead Redemption and Uncharted.

Didn't like... Bioshock and Condemned.

Still haven't played... Bully, Deadrising, Undead Nightmare, Saints Row, Saints Row 2, Uncharted 2, Infamous, Infamous 2 or any Assassin's Creed.

Of the games I'm looking at, the only ones I've ever played are Max Payne and a bit of Splinter Cell/Tomb Raider. I've never played Call Of Duty, Mass Effect, Fallout, Metal Gear Solid, Prince Of Persia or Devil May Cry etc. So if any of the games I'm looking at are similar to Bioshock, I'm not interested. And if I were to start Call of Duty or Mass Effect, I don't know if I should start from the beginning or just buy the newest one.

And I didn't list any of the new sports games but are any of them worth it? I liked Madden 07 but hated 08 and 12. And I liked NBA 2k8 but didn't think 2k10 was very good. NCAA 12 was okay I have no idea about newer baseball games. I used to love MVP baseball on Xbox but then somebody bought the license to MLB and they stopped making them.

Feel free to include games I wasn't even looking at.

So you'd just jump right in without playing the older ones?

Looks like Hitman Absolution is only 40 bucks even though it only came out on November 20th. Is that a sale price or regular price? I was going to purchase Assassin's Creed 3 today because it was 33 dollars yesterday but it was a sale price and is 57 again today. And I got screwed 10 bucks on the Assassin's Creed 2 trilogy lol. I bought it a few days ago for 40 bucks and looked at it this morning, it's down to 30 bucks, gah. Oh, and Black Ops 2 is 50 bucks. On sale or regular price? Might as well make the decision today and save money if they're on sale even. Even if it is only 10 bucks.

And it looks like some people are saying Black Ops 1 and Modern Warfare 3 are better than Black Ops 2. You don't don't think so?

Someone also said to buy Battlefield 3 instead of Black Ops 2. Black Ops 2 does look to have a fairly low rating on Amazon. 3 stars on 360 and 3.5 stars on PS3. But it does have a 9.3 rating on IGN which is really good. What's up with people not liking it?

If you had ps plus you could get half those games free or alot cheaper.

Id def try fallout 3 or new vegas. I prefer fallout series slightly more than uncharted.

Uncahrted 3 and the Batman games are the best games. Also, Hitman Absolution is really good, not much playback after you beat the game IMO.

For the PS plus...

Do the games just rotate monthly or do they remain on there permanently to be downloaded? I looked it up and it showed 12 games this month but I wasn't sure if you could only play/download this month. How does it work? Do you get to download them permanently or do you have to be online to play them?

I'm not much of an NBA fan (haven't been since the days of MJ), but I bought NBA 2K13 for the PS3 and really enjoy it. It isn't a perfect game, but as far as repeat playability and bang for your buck, I recommend it for the PS3.
Outside of NCAA/Madden, I've felt sports games 'feel' better on PS3 than on the 360, whereas most war/FPS games are the opposite. However, when GTA V drops, I will buy it for the PS3 if for no other reason than I won't have to deal with multiple discs/installing to the hard drive.
As for the newer baseball games, MLB The Show is tops (and likely the only one moving forward). It is a great game regardless of your skill (or fan) level. Its controls and difficulty/slider settings are very customizable. Each year is legitimately better than the last, as it is much more than a yearly roster update. If you like baseball AT ALL, I strongly urge you to purchase The Show 13 when it drops in a few months. If you wanted to get used to it now, you can probably find an affordable used copy of 12.

PS+ games that you buy at a discounted price are yours to keep, forever. PS+ games that you 'buy' for free are only yours as long as you are a PS+ subscriber.

As far as needing to be online to play them, I would think that you can play offline, but cannot give a definitive answer for that.

Ah, thanks!

I was going to say it sucks that you lose the free games after unsubscribing but not really a big deal I suppose. What about the games you can pick from? Can you only play the 12 they offer or is there a library of games they offered in previous months that you can go back and play as well?

You can play plus games offline because its downloaded to your system. Every tuesday they update the psn store and i believe have a free game every week. I still havnt explored to much into the new store bit on the old one it had around 20+ free games.

Okay but this month for instance they showed Big Planet 2 as one of the games. Will it still be available to download 5 months from now or do you have to download it this month? Just trying to figure out if they'd include games from the past months if I signed up.

If you want a PS+ game at a discounted (or free) rate, put it in your cart and purchase it now, while it's discounted. You do not actually have to download it to your hard drive right away if you won't be playing it any time soon. As it is in your list of purchases, you can download it any time from now. If you do not purchase it while it is on sale and want to do so in 5 months, if it is not on sale, you cannot go back and grab it at a previous PS+ price.

Aaah, gotchya.

That's a little disappointing. I was hoping if I signed up for it that there would be a library of games from months past that I'd be able to download. So in other words, the 12 games they show on their website is the only ones I can download for the time being if I got it. I'm assuming I could still get other games at a discounted price but those 12 are the free ones this month?

Theres much more than games that are discounted or free. Ive had it almost two years and love it. It does suck you cant see previous games but to get games likes lbp2 basically free is cool. Usually games stay in the library a good while, and they let you know how long its availible once it gets close time to them taking it off

I'm finally going to order games today and I'm thinking Oblivion and Fallout 3 for sure since they're rated so highly and only 12.50. If I like Oblivion, then I can buy Skyrim. What would you compare them too though? I'm not sure I like that they're considered RPG's. They're obviously not like Final Fantasy, correct?

Well, whatever.

Oblivion
Fallout 3
Crysis 2
Batman Arkham Asylum
Uncharted 3
$73.96

What's done is done. If they suck, they suck. Those should keep me busy for a while and that's cheap for 5 games. Thanks for all the input guys!
