What about Dookie?
Ride - Nowhere
The Verve - A Storm in Heaven
The Verve - This is Music
Oasis - Definitely Maybe
The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses (technically not 90s since it came out in 89, but still awesome)
I can't believe I forgot Nas' Illmatic and It Was Written.
I have always thought that Illmatic was way overhyped. The Source gave Illmatic and Mobb Deep's Infamous album 5 mics for what ever reason and really, they were not worthy of that kind of recognition.
They were aight albums, but not 5 mic albums.
"Illmatic" , to me is what hip-hop/rap is all about...best rap album ever.
Just do a Google search on best rap albums of all-time, you will see "Illmatic" near the top I'm sure.
As for Mobb Deep's "Infamous", I liked it but never thought it was groundbreaking.
Garth's was up there too. Good callSomwhat surprised that nobody named Garth Brooks' No Fences yet. That record singlehandedly restored a musical genre that was on total lifesupport.
My personal 1990s favorite is probably Widespread's self titled album, although I agree that several previously posted titles are very good.
Ride is Such a great band.
Always liked Northern Soul from the Verve.
Roses were so good. Glad to hear they finally agreed to play together again.
while were on Brit bands
Parklife from Blur is such a great record. never thought Damon Albarn would become such a Tour de force in the industry. Bowie-esque.
Overall an excellent album. I remember how novel they were at the time.
Other notable mentions...
Live - Throwing Copper
DMB - Crash
I have never listened to a lot of Metal, so half of what you guys have listed I've never heard.
But my absolute favorite of the 90's would be *preparing to be flamed*
Matchbox Twenty - Yourself or Someone Like You
If you've only heard their hits and never heard the album, I can assure you that you haven't heard their best. I listened to that album a LOT and it helped me through a rough patch.
Great album, probably my favorite of the 90's as well. Also agree about the songs other than the hits.
And I'll go ahead and prepare to be flamed as well, but Dizzy Up The Girl was pretty good.
