Hilarious quote from that interview: Chad, in regards to their UOV to Gerogia, asked Elliott if anything about that visit stood out to him, to which he replied "No, not really."

Watching the interview, they definitely didn't want to reveal too much, but I think it's easy to infer that UT is a heavy favorite.

Our main competition is probably LSU.

Agreed, it is LSU. Which wins out - playing for James's ex-teammate or his alma mater? I don't know if anyone else has a punchers chance.

i thought I read somewhere that they havent provided any game fiilm to rivals, so that was why they werent on the watch list

Just curious. Don't know much about them except they are Eric's brother. What little I did read about them said they do not stack up to big bro. (Just one article on a blog). I guess I was just hoping that an entire thread did not just support them for their legacy. Would they be in 2014 class?

You can't compare them to Eric. The Eric Berry's of the world are few and far between.

ATLANTA, Ga. -- Depending on how the class of 2014 shapes up, there's a chance it may deserve to be named the legacy class if all the 2014 prospects that have Vol family members end up in Orange and White.

Names like Dillon Bates, Neiko Creamer and even new commitment Vic Wharton who's uncle played basketball at Tennessee, are ones Vol fans hope to see play in Neyland Stadium over the next several years.

But, two names are most thought of when talking about Vol legacies and that's Evan Berry, 5-foot-11, 195-pound safety, and Elliot Berry, 6-foot, 200-pound athlete, the sons of former Tennessee running back James Berry and brother to NFL safety and former Vol Eric Berry.

The two juniors have a chance this week at the Rising Seniors Bowl to show they can live up to the 'Berry' name and while they know plenty about Tennessee as a program, they're just now beginning to get to know about Tennessee's new coaching staff.

"We talked to coach (Willie) Martinez and he came to our school and visited us in December," Evan Berry said Friday after their first practice in Atlanta. "It wasn't my first time meeting him because he was recruiting my brother when he was at UGA so I was kind of familiar with him and it was good seeing him, as well."

The set of brothers are certainly intrigued by the new staff in Knoxville, but say it's too early to pass any kind of judgement.

"I really don't know. It's hard to have an impression on somebody when you haven't met them," Elliot Berry said.

A few things they most certainly want to see out of the Vols' new staff is more wins as well as more loyalty in hopes of being around the same staff if they were to end up at Tennessee.

"Most definitely wins and loyal coaches that would at least stay there during my four years and not leave every year or every two years or every three years or something like that," Evan Berry said.

Evan Berry said it's been hard to get to know the coaches at Tennessee over the last several years because of all the changes on the defensive side of the ball.

"You want to get comfortable at a place where you're supposed to get comfortable at but you can't really get comfortable with a new coaching staff coming in every year," Evan Berry added.

The two are hoping to begin getting comfortable with the new staff this winter as they hope to be in Knoxville again soon.

"We'll probably go up there for the junior day and up there this summer," Elliot Berry said.

With schools like Auburn, Georgia and others in the mix, Elliott said the brothers are just taking their time with everything.

It's a wait and see with everybody. I'm not really leaning anywhere right now. Everybody has a fair shot. That's how I feel about it," Elliot Berry said.

Eric Berry was the best safety i've seen play in the SEC. If you're expecting those 2 to be as good as he was, then you're likely to be very disappointed.


This isn't a knock on the Berry bros, i'm just saying that there are very VERY few athletes on the level that Eric Berry was. He was truly elite.
