Somewhat conflicting info right now. Before Malzahn was hired, AU AD told all staff they were released pending new HC. Malzahn told coaching staff they were all released and could reapply with him and new OC and DC. Ellis Johnson was hired last night as DC. Many think Chad Morris or Rhett Lashlee, played for Malzahn in HS and GA to him at AU and Arky State, could be new OC. Four coaches including Trooper are believed to have a shot at being retained. Here's a tweet from last night.

I don't know if they have been evaluated yet, so I don't know what their stars are but I know they said they were both open and that they are not necessarily a package deal. Elliot said if one of them is happier someone else then that's how it will be but that they are both open to recruitment and not leaning to any certain school.

IIRC Eric played QB in high school.. We all know how that worked out...

Troop won't land anywhere until the NCAA is done with him. My guess is that his career is just about over and it couldn't happen to a more deserving guy.

I agree with you to an extent, but only regarding the type of offense they run at Creekside. Just look at a couple local high schools with elite athletes. Jalen Hurd is the best player at Beech, and he is a RB. Josh Malone is the best player at Station Camp, and he is a WR. Eric was a run-first QB at Creekside. All I was wondering is how good of a passer Elliot is.
