Berry mulling another year as VOL? (merged)

It would probably scare Kiffin to death. Imagine if Berry came back, got hurt, and ruined his entire future. That would NOT be good for recruiting.

I don't think Oklahoma is too worried about their recruiting after the Sam Bradford incident.

In the article, his dad says that isn't exactly true. He had surgery and is on disability until he recovers. He also says that it is up to Eric, if he wants to stay or go. He says they aren't broke by any means and they would be fine financially if he came back. They aren't going to discuss it until after the bowl game though.
Thanks for that info:good!:

Like I said GOD bless him whatever the case turns out to be. You can get hurt anytime case in point D. Grant jumped ship early and messed his leg up before the start of his first pro year.

He should go, but I could understand why he may possibly want to return. As good as he's been, he's gone 0-3 against Bama and Florida, and been on a 5-7 team one year and a team that looks like they will win 7-8.

I would love for EB to come back as much as the next guy. But it's not we have a championship team next year. I could understand if we did but we don't just yet.

Can't think of any good reason to return. Not likely we will be competing for any kind of championship next year. Just sounds completely illogical.

Come on guys, EB will do what is best for him and all the speculation won't change that. What will be....... will be. You can't blame Kiff if he comes back and Coach certainly won't push him either way. And NO, it won't hurt or help recruiting either way.

As long as he takes out a huge insurance policy I think staying is a perfectly viable option. You don't get back your senior year of college. He's going to be successful whenever he goes.

An insurance policy will be for a few million at the very most.

A top 5 pick will get a minimum of 20 million guaranteed

You can't compare

No matter what Berry does or doesn't do. He is my favorite player on/off the field in my 24 years of being a vol fan. Thats not discounting anything from Peyton, Jamal, Kent, or Al Wilson.

Dude is a once in a decade player. Personally I hope he sandbags and goes in the late top ten so he doesn't go to a crappy ass team. But knowing EB that aint happening.

I would love for him to stay for his senior year, but with his parents out of work, he should go pro and support his family until they can get back in the workforce.

I thought the same thing but if you look at post 18 there is some info on this matter.

Their can be an argument for weeks on should he stay or go? If he stays great, he gets a DEGREE, another year under Monte, and #1 next year! If he goes he is top 3 this year getting a huge contract. I support him no matter what, and I will always be telling my son about EB. He will go down as one of the greatest and will have #14 retired!
