An ESPN Insider article on the CFB Home Page has a headline stating that he may be mulling another year at UT.

Any Insiders care to summarize?

There's a very interesting article on TOS about that very thing. I'm not an ESPN insider but I would imagine it's about the same thing. I am a little more hopeful that there might be a smidgeon of a chance that he comes back. It doesn't seem that the financial situation is as big of an issue as everyone seems to think it is. Also something in there about the Berry's taking out an insurance policy for Eric in the event of a career ending injury. Might also be less of a big deal than we thought. Anyway, read for yourself. Here's the link.

Tackling 'T' question: Berry might be playing last game at Neyland GoVolsXtra

Do you guys think that if Berry doesn't participate in senior day activities that he might seriously be considering sticking around?

Great thing to talk about. Nobody knows but him, and he won't make a final decision until January, probably.

I'd love to see him return, but my money is on him going.

Top 3 pick - you have to go.

If we were bringing more back and had a shot at a NC, I'd hope for him to come back. We don't, so he should go be a top 3 pick. That will do as much for UT as anything, even though by that logic, where are the QB's? You'd think with Peyton destroying in the NFL that we'd have a line of guys trying to follow him.

The insider article just references comments in the GVX article.

Interesting that Scouts, Inc. rates Berry as the #1 overall prospect in the draft according to that article.

Seems I remember something about both parents were out of work. (this was last year I believe) His parents finding work would also be a factor. GOD bless the young man what ever he does.

Yeah, Scouts have him ranked as the best player in college football. I don't see him staying, buy you never know. He may surprise us.

I really wouldn't be suprised either way. Obviously the smart thing would be to take the money. BUT I think EB really likes this coaching staff and UT. We will see.

You dont want something to happen to him like Bradford. I would love to see him in Orange next year but I think he goes.

We would all be happy for him to stay.

Just would be dumb for him to pass up an NFL contract, especially if he is projected to go in the top 3-5

He should do what is best for him. If he can lock up the #1 pick in the draft then imagine how good that would sound to future recruits. Berry would only have one more year and I'd love to see it, but he might actually do us more long term good by entering the draft. He will go down as one of the greatest to play at UT.

In the article, his dad says that isn't exactly true. He had surgery and is on disability until he recovers. He also says that it is up to Eric, if he wants to stay or go. He says they aren't broke by any means and they would be fine financially if he came back. They aren't going to discuss it until after the bowl game though.

I don't think he could get any better, but I think Monte will use him differently if he can get some better guys in on the rest of the defense. That would showcase Berry a lot more on highlight-type plays. Right now he is making up for our depleted linebacking corp.

It would be irresponsible of Kiffin to allow Berry to come back. He needs to take advantage of the opportunity and declare for the draft.

Worse than what happened to Bradford is something like what happened to Inky Johnson. Bradford will still get the chance to heal and prove himself in the NFL and score that big paycheck. Inky sadly never got that chance

I don't think Kiffin would complain too much if he returned though. :)

EB has to think about the possible lock out of the NFL in a couple years as well. He needs to get his money while he can IMO. It's just too much of a gamble fo rhim to stay. Plus, how can he stay and improve on his already #1 ranking?

How much more "complete" could he be??!?! Sure... He could do like Peyton did and come back, but you can't compare the two situations.... Peyton's family had all the money they needed before Peyton was even born.... The salary structure incoming draftees will be subjected to should make this a no-brainer. Eric Berry has played enough football for free. Time to get paid. He deserves every penny he's about to get.

As far as participating (or not...) in Senior day activities goes, whether he does or doesn't shouldn't tell much one way or another. He's not a selfish showboat type of guy so I don't think his ego requires having a big deal made of his leaving.

I have to agree. If Kiffin is going to show that he is going to do what is best for players then he needs to tell him to enter the draft.
