I think Evan and Elliot both will play big roles next season. Elliot in fact was hurt most of this season, so he has some things to prove in the offseason. I'm making a bold prediction, and I am going to say both berry brothers start on defense next season. I think this is what our starting secondary looks like next year:
CB 1: Sutton (if he stays)
CB 2: Martin
SS: Evan Berry
FS: TKjr
Nickel: Rashan Gaulden

Think that will be pretty solid, and of course Berry will be our special teams star once again as well.

Here's our LB core IMO:
OLB: Reeves-Maybin
MLB: Kirkland Jr.
OLB: Berry

The reason I predict Elliot to take a big step next season is because of his size, and because of how fast the guy is. Both he and Evan ran track in high school, and they both have elite speed. I like Austin Smith, Bates, and Sapp, but I just think Elliot takes a huge step forward in the offseason. With that line-backing core, and secondary coupled with our terrific defensive line i think our defense is elite next season. Also finally have quality depth as well. I just think the Berry Bros play huge roles for our team next season.

They will. Hope Sutton and Berry continue to return and dominate the special teams as well. It was surreal watching them return some this year, they made it look so easy.

I don't think Elliot Berry will ever start a game at the University of Tennessee outside of special teams.

Elliot was liked a lot by Butch this past offseason, but an injury pretty much derailed his chances. A guy with his size and speed is perfect for outside linebacker. I do like Smith, Bryant, Sapp, and Bates, but I just think Berry will beat them out. He's very fast, and almost as fast as his brother. They both ran around a 4.5 40 in high school, and that speed and size he has is perfect for the outside linebacker position. I mean really if he was healthy you don't think he would've played over Bynum who runs around a 4.9 40? He had games where he started, and I think Berry is much better than Bynum if he would've been healthy.

I'd like Cortez McDowell to find a spot on the starting defense. He tears it up on special teams.

Evan ran a 4.35 in the offseason. (Electronic)

Cortez McDowell will push for playing time. If JRM leaves he's next guy up. Dude is a head hunter, good size and speed to match.

Can't really see Eliot beating out Smith for the OLB spot Smith had a good year after being named the starter. JMO

Yeah, he makes me feel good about the future and even the possibility of JRM going early. Fun to watch this year on sp. teams.

Our linebacker depth is pretty dang good. I hope Elliot turns out to be a hitter, I am sure he is an athlete. Evan is fine at safety. I'm sure he will start next year, unless we switch it around.
