Bench JG against BYU

I think it’s becoming obvious that JG is the common denominator in the last 3 OCs play calling all being exactly the same. I like JG but I say it’s time to move on if he doesn’t start moving this offense. We have 3 excellent senior receivers that are on their last ride to make it to the NFL. A qb that doesn’t give them a chance in an effort to protect his personal stat lines is beyond unacceptable.
Nailed it.

Was it JG that gave up 38 points?
No. But he didn't protect the D either. He was responsible for setting the D up with a short field to start the game. He didn't lead the O to sustain drives. He made critical mistakes at the wrong times.

We knew the D was a little short handed. We knew the DL was inexperienced. We HOPED the experienced O including a 4th year QB would take some of the pressure off. JG did just the opposite.

I would have rather him thrown for 50 yards and 5 int’s and won the game. At the end of the day he lost.

No he didnt lose. Was it his fault that GS racked up over 200 yards rushing? Was he playing defense? Was he coaching? Was he playing OL? Just stop it already. Look at what Trevor Lawrences stats were in his first game. They werent good. Did they win? Of course they did. Now do you say he won the game simply because he played bad and is the QB? No you dont. Clemson won. Just like TN lost. You idiots who keep blaming one person on a team loss are baffling.

JG definitely didnt play good at all. But you are using some hilarious gymnastics to yet again belittle JG. Nobody, and I mean nobody, saw GS OL being able to dominate our defense. Nobody. Anyone who says otherwise is a flat out liar. Of course what did we see yet again? The OL played like trash yet again. I mean Jahmir Johnson was the only guy who looked like he knew what he was doing.

Why couldn't we run the ball effectively to control the clock? I guess that was J.gs faukt as well right? Regardless of the reasons, GS should have never managed anything close to 38 points. And thats not all JGs fault. As a matter of fact, its very little his fault.

Our offensive play calling was pretty ****** too. This loss is on everyone. The players and staff. This was not JGs fault alone

You know what happens if JG manages touchdowns instead of settling for 3 field goals?

You seem to be losing sight of the fact that this was Georgia State, and not some P5 opponent with an actual pulse. They are the literal bottom of the Sunbelt conference, and our RS junior lead offense couldn't manage to score more than 1passing TD outside of garbage time.

You are correct the defense played like hot garbage, but we knew the dline might suck (not this bad) and that there is youth in the secondary, but our offense is chocked full of returning starters.

There is zero excuse for our QB not to be able to overcome 38 points against the Georgia State defense.

Lol, you've lost you're datgum mine, boy. I'd tell you to just delete that mess before someone sees it, but I've quoted it. Lol.

There is zero excuse for our OL to play that bad. There is zero excuse for our RBs not to run all over them. There is zero excuse for this TEAM (that includes JG) to play this bad. But by all. Means, continue the drivel of blaming one guy more than the other 21 that are on the field.

Who led a MASSIVELY undertalented team to a win? Who made the plays when he needed to? Who fumbled and threw a pick when he didn't need to?

If "stats" when GEORGIA STATE is playing prevent with the game out of reach are more impressive to you than wins... that's truly pathetic.

PS- GSU's QB started out something like 1 for 7. He didn't get rattled and finished 10/17 for the rest of the game. He kept his O moving. He led his team. His team rallied around him.

You have to wonder if JG's locker room issues really were resolved at this point.

Maybe the rest of the team has decided if JG plays, they won't.

JG has started how many games now and still can't read a defense presnap? Everyone and their mother saw the LB that lit him up, but yet he still hasn't. Why does he still have 0 pocket awareness (one sack he didn't even try to step up in it when he had the space to do so) and can't get the ball away before a DB runs 20 yards to get to him? He's a good athlete but has no mental capacity to play QB.

Agreed. Maurer showed great command in the Spring game. Yes he turned it over but so did JG yesterday. We have to try something different.
So did Bo Nix at AUB last night vs OR. TWO ints in fact. Yet he made the clutch plays when they mattered and exhibited the high energy leadership to carry his team on his back to a huge W. We might find some of that magic in Maurer.

Since everyone sucked, why not just bench every position! I'm sure the walk-ons will give us a great chance!

There were many other positions that graded out much more poorly than JG, its just that meatheads continue to obsess about the QB position.

Yeah, if he'd still been on the field, the defense wouldn't have given up 38 points. The defense was not organized, never figured out the option, and in the end was even worse because the offense never stayed on the field long enough to share it's part of the load.

It was Georgia state, not Bama. An SEC defense shouldn't be getting thrashed by a 2-10 sunbelt doormat. JG put up >300 yards. 30 points should have been 29 more than needed to secure a victory.
The FF can hate on JG all they want, but pinning the loss on him is retarded.

JG doesn't appear to be mentally strong enough to handle being switched out. He seems like the type that WHEN you bench him, he's done.

Whats the difference?...He's been done for 2 seasons now...He sucks and his record shows it...Bench him and let him transfer to Rutgers where he can pout and whine on their sideline...We got nothing to lose at this point...Let one of the younguns have a shot and see if they can pull us out of this misery.

That's the key here. JG's ceiling is mediocrity.

JG doesn't have the things that don't show up in a stat line. No intangibles, no spark.

I've been patient with him as he's played behind some atrocious lines, but now it's evident he can't lead the team like he needs to.

Two of the sacks we're on him Saturday. He refuses to go deep and that makes me wonder if he's why Helton (and so far Chaney) look so bad at play calling. I think we're limited with him. Sure seems like he knows where he's going to throw it before he gets the snap.

I'm guessing the problem is that the guys behind him aren't very good either.

Honestly, if we were going to lose to Georgia State, I'd have rather lost playing motivated 3rd-stringers and walkons rather than watch out 1st string 4-5* "rated talent" walking around the field with zero desire to be playing the game.

A lot of players need benched, honestly. Let more of the 2nd string boys start against BYU. Since they'd be trying to prove themselves worthy, maybe they'd at least put up a fight, and not just stand around looking dumbfounded and uninterested.

Why do you constantly and conveniently ignore that JG was directly responsible for 3 turnovers that led to, what, 17 GSU points? And failed to put the ball in the endzone between the 0:09 mark of the 1st quarter and the 0:02 mark in the 4th? He completely disappeared when he was needed and you think 300 yards is something of note.

Stats of a competent SEC-level QB vs a Sunbelt defense.

Burrow was out of the game, and the backup was in by the 9:00 mark of the 3rd quarter.

I don't see him being benched in the BYU game but if we lose, he'll probably be on a short leash for the Chatt game if we aren't moving the ball we may see another QB come in to try and give the team a spark.
If Pruitt does pull JG he better be prepared to ride with the #2&#3 guy because JG has already showed his attitude when he's not playing. He won't be like Hurts and still cheer on his team and go in do his part and come back out.
