I hate to see our beloved Vols in such a hole. It's not fair to their loyal supporters and it is not fair to the players either. I am amazed that teams like Penn State with all their troubles, Vanderbilt, and even Western Kentucky are ranked higher. This is not the Vols I grew up watching. I remember when Tennessee was feared not only in the SEC, but in the NCAA. They have now become a side note, just another date on their competitors calender. I do not ask for nothing more than to see our favorite team return to the glory days. It is easy to say everything will get better, but without true encouragement those words are nothing better than cold silence.

Good point about Penn State. They are competative after what they have been through and we are not?

Man...

We have got to figure out what we are going to do to bring ut football back and do it. Time is running out and other teams are rising to take our place. We used to be top 5 in the country. It is time for the boosters, AD to put or shut up. I'm sick of loosing.

We have a brand new athletic facility, on of the biggest stadiums in the world and it is starting to look like we can't even feel it up.

True basketball is on the rise. Which is great. But we should be able to do both. Like FL.

...agreed 100%.

But, Tennessee will always be a football school. That's the DNA of the fan base.

Two bad hires (Kiffin/Dooley) in football hardly compare to the plethora of b-ball bad hires in HC's through the years.

With the right man in the sidelines in '13-basketball will once again become an afterthought.

Man...

Pedo State did not have 5 Top 15 (with 3 being Top 5) Teams on their schedule...

PSU hasn't seen the worst of what is to come for them. Wait until the scholarship limits catch up to them. Just like you are seeing at USC, except multiply that by ten.

No matter how bad it is right now, we will always be a football school

Don't mean to be negative but what's a calender?

Most of you people are silly.

It takes lots more than just a coachinng change to finish rebuilding our program especially when we play oin the SEC where most of the top teams in the country play.

There's NOT 1 good coach in America that's going to walk in and instantly have our Vols back in the top 10 consistently overnight and to think that is delusional.

Most people here only think of Wins and Losses and never think about everything else that's involved unfortunately.

THINK people and try to look at the entire picture.

We are a historic and proud football team BUT there's lots of things we have to get corrected before we can compete with the elite teams.

Recruiting is NOT a easy thing especially at UT and everyone thinks we have the best of everything to lure top recruits to UT but the fact is we don't.

AD Hart says the number 1 question that parents of recruits ask is...Where will my son be living?

The answer to that question is...They'll live in a players dorm that's over 40 years old and is badly in need of a serious rehab because our players dorm is a total joke compared to the new players dorms across the country that are more like plush new apartments that our top competitors have built and where the players will LIVE and spend most of their time is a VERY important piece of the recruiting puzzle.

New coaches equal instant success...NO WAY!

THINK...New Head Coach DOES mean starting all over again from scratch which means a totally new system for the O and the D and the special teams.

Players all have to learn, get experienced and comfortable in a new system and in most cases that takes several years to do PLUS the new coaches MUST have the type of players that will fit and can excel in those new systems so we're back to recruiting again and to get a FULL team roster to get back to a normal yearly recruiting rotation DOES take at least 4 full years of the same coaches trying to recruit the same types of players that will fit their specific type of systems and after that 4 years you can then recruit to fill the vacancies of players that graduate or leave early for the NFL and then it's a little easier because you're filling openings and NOT totally rebuilding from scratch like we've been doing.

Winning helps recruiting BUT when you've fallen so far behind and you play in the SEC against alot of the best teams in the country getting consistent Wins is a VERY hard thing to do so the process takes longer than it takes for the elite teams to just replace players that leave early or graduate so it's a step by step slow process to consistently get more Wins every year until you can make BIG news and upset an elite team and then the next year try to upset 2 elite teams and THAT will get the press talking more and more about Tennessee being on the rise again and getting more good attention from the top recruits across America.

The FACT is that Tennessee is NOT a top destination for most coaches and actually 99% of most smart coaches do NOT want to coach in the SEC because the ONLY thing coaches care about is their careers and to keep moving up and getting Wins and big pay raises but to coach in the SEC is actually a VERY dangerous career move because you can Win a National Championship 1 year and 3 or 4 years later you can be at the bottom of the SEC, Be seen as a bad, unsuccessful coach and be looking for a job as a coaching assistant and starting all over again just like we see right now at Auburn which did win a National Championship just a few years ago and is believed to now be looking for a new coach.

Every smart coach WILL demand a 4 to 5 year contract with a big buyout just to try and guarantee that they'll be able to get at least 4 of THEIR recruiting classes on campus and into their type of systems and right now CDD has only 2 of HIS recruiting cloasses on the team as Freshmen and Sophs so every coach we try to recruit to replace CDD will be saying that CDD was given only HALF the number of recruiting classes he deserved to try and rebuild our program and THAT alone will make most coaches NOT want to even think about coming to coach our Vols.

A crazy and rabid fanbase, like ours, DOES make a big impact on any future new coach and what he'll decide.

When a coach is considering coming to Tennessee and he sees PROOF that he'll be called every name in the book, as will his family, and he SEES and HEARS all the immature hate all over the newspapers, radio, TV and across the internet world and he SEES hate and crap painted on the rock for the entire world to see he'll think again about what he and his family deserves and how he and all his coaches deserve to be treated no matter how many wins or losses they have on a GAME and most good coaches will say NO WAY and we'll end up, again, just like the last time and get a so-called up and comer coach just exactly like how we got CDD and our current coaching staff when nobody else would come to coach our beloved Vols.

It takes LOTS of things and many years to totally rebuild a college football program back up to elite status especially when you play in the SEC.

We either MUST get a HUGE name, great proven coach, proven great recruiter and a 100% total HOMERUN hire or we need to keep CDD and use the entire next year looking for that HOMERUN hire to take over 1 year from now because if we don't then we certainly WILL end up just like we are right now 3 or 4 years from now getting another middle of the road so called up and coming coach and we'll end up stuck in the middle of the pack or below in the always tough SEC.

You really want to help recruiting?

Start a fund and help get donations for a brand new players dorm that every top recruit in America would love to live in while at Tennessee for 4 years and that every parent of a recruit will drool over.

VFL...GBO!!!
