What about Hugh Freeze? Besides Gruden thats who I would love Tennessee to get. All the guy does is win! If you don't know much about him do a little research. The guy is a winner and unbelievable recruiter.

Not sure if you're being serious here.

I think my expectations are very reasonable. I will be happy with ANY coach hired. ANY coach hired gives this team a better chance to win in 2013.

Inform me about him? Everywhere he has been no matter the sport even he has won championships. He is a winner what is it about him as a person that would out way the winning? I mean one guy just said Petrino over him and I do know his personal story.

Inform me bookvol?

Yeah sure he did great at Briarcrest but that's high school. He's always been connected with Ole Miss, as a assistant coach and now Head coach. Ole Miss is his dream job.

He did well at Lambuth (which is now a satellite of U of M.) but again NAIA football is a joke. He did okay at Arky state as OC, but although he has admittedly had a tough row to hoe at Ole Miss he is not a top tier coach and I don't believe he ever will be.

Ok saw something on him a while back. Saw how he has won and won quick everywhere. Have been real impressed with him this year at Ole Miss. Rember they had not won an SEC game in 2 years. Was not suppose to win one this year and they are playing good. Not to mention he is getting recruits to at least visit Ole Miss. And getting some to commit over big schools. I would like to have him over some of the other coaches not named Gruden.

Man looking at that is sad. Tennessee hasn't won much more SEC games than Ole Miss in last 3 years. Wow! Thanks for info though.

Petrino, Chavis, Peterson and Kelly will not be candidates or coaching at UT next year. Chavis will never be a HC, Petrino will never coach at UT ever as a HC, Peterson isnt leaving Boise. He has had many other job chances that were in much better shape than UT is right now and why would Chip leave Oregon? He has it made there, has access to
absolutely anything he wants. Patterson is one on that list that would be possible, but sounds like Gruden is the man so we will never know who number 2 is but just guessing would say its Patterson.

Not so sure about that....recruiting and identifing the best athletes is the only way to compete now in the ever so competetive SEC....things have changed in the last 7-8 years and without great instate talent UT's bid to become a top SEC team has become even more difficult, Dooley is proof of this. It will take an attention getting coach to lure the SEC's best recruits back to Rocky Top.
Who ever we replace Ol Dooley with better have some real identifing traits if we intend to once again be the Tennessee we all wish for.

I love it when people talk about being realistic. Do you think that Alabama was being "realistic" when they hired Nick Saban from the Dolphins? The University of Tennessee and the athletic department is full of mediocrity and I am beginning to believe that will never change. Our limitations are controlled by a select few that have no aspirations to be successful.

...go to nearly any NFL message board for a team looking for a coach and Jon Grudens' name is front and center.

Sorry, NFL teams; Jon Gruden is likely going to keep raking in ESPN cash, do commercials, and live a life 99.99% of us can only imagine.

For the record, this applies to NCAA Teams, as well.

The pool, as I see it, is Patterson, Tubberville, Strong, Briles, Petrino and perhaps, Mullen. Neither of the Kelly's (OU/ND) are going anywhere, and Gundy isn't leaving OSU; his home-to compete in the Hellish SEC.

Everyone in the pool is an upgrade, but-convincing them to come to Rocky Top at this point in history isn't as easy as it once may have been.

Peterson and Kelly are not realistic , and for that matter neither is Chavis , but for totally opposite reasons

I think you just proved the unrealistic guys right and yourself wrong
