The Kiffin era brought a lot of crap, but one item of substance was the team huddle going into the 4th quarter. I have to admit it gave me goose-bumps the first time I saw it in Neyland. I have no idea if that short lived tradition will stick, but I had a thought on how to keep it/make it even better. This could be a brand new tradition for Saturday afternoons at Neyland-induldge me and picture this....

end of the 3rd quarter and we go to a TV timeout with TN leading Oregon 17-13. Oregon has the ball at our 30 yardline and then they pump in the music (5:10-7:30 of the attached link). At the start it builds and builds and once it hits the mark of 6:10 from the clip Neyland erupts. The entire stadium jumping in unision throwing orange and white pom-poms in a frenzy as ESPN comes back to the game live from the TV timeout. "Neyland Stadium has erputed", says Brent Musberger...Maybe it's corny, but just picture this in your head and try not to get jacked up. God I can't wait for football season http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sclt7c5DUe4

Just imagine the blimp shot of the entire stadium jumping up and down and opposing fans about to crap themselves...After the last few years we need something like this. We deserve something like this.

...and after watching the attached link and listening to the lyrics, holy crap that would be awesome! Imagine that song, synced up with some sweet highlight vid...Hardesty breaking that run up the gut for a long TD against UGA last year with the lyrics "No one's going to take me alive..."...gets me jacked just thinking about it. Great post. I've always thought the Neyland audio techs needed to do a better job of playing songs to pump up the crowd. Too much "Tennessee Jed" (although I love that song)...JMO

Funny how they changed the Volwalk because our previous coach said they did not want to waste energy for the game. Personally, I would rather them save their energy for the field. Those antics never did anything for me personally in my sports career, it actually provided more motivation when I saw an opponent do it. I suspect we will not see it, but admit I enjoyed it as a fan.

if you like it that much.....fine.

but, this "feel good" crap doesn't make a damn bit of difference to the outcome of the game.

black jerseys, 4th quarter music, a media quote that jabs a rival, etc, etc, etc.

it's all crap.

stick to your school traditions. play the game. win.

did you do any of that crap in 1998? did it matter?

Although I thoroughly enjoyed the team huddle, you can rest assured that Dooley will do away with all of the things Kiffin did.

The first 30 seconds of megalomaniac-Incubus. Pretty intense

I absolutely hate any idea of music played through a loud speaker. We have a live band that is there to provide music. This is something unique to college football.

If done correctly, music through the speakers can definitely enhance a game experience. Be it by pumping up the crowd (see VT entrance: YouTube - Hokies entrance vs. Miami This video gives me goosebumps and I sat through VT curb stomping UT in the GA Dome in person last season. It's just bada$$) or simply making it more fun (see: YouTube - Wisconsin Badgers football -- Shout! you can't tell me you wouldn't sing along to that). Expand your mind beyond that stupid Baw Wit Da Baw Kid Rock crap UT played last year.

Because tradition has worked so well the past 12 years. Let them jump around if it fires them up

Just an idea for the fans, mainly. It would be a pretty sweet scene if the majority of the stadium was jumping up and down during a big game going into the 4th quarter. If anything I think it would get our team charged up-to see that kind of fan support. Besides-these are the kind of scenes that make college football great-just unbridled passion...oh, and I loved being called out by the Florida guy on traditions. Really, Florida? Really?
