Before any of our Rivals get to post this....

I just saw this and couldn't help but laugh that it was done by Kiffin's personal assistant the first day on the job.

I said in another post that Kiffin probably promoted him on the spot. Now a Vol commit is getting National media attention on ESPN. Genius!

I don't see why they just can' say who it is now a days?? It's plastered all over the interwebz, so it doesn't make much sense that a coach can't talk about it. Stupid rule, IMO.

Yes, it is a stupid rule. I don't think they should talk ability or give a scouting report, but you should be able to mention that a kid has committed.

I would say it's time for us to go crazy, crack open each others' skulls and feast on the goo inside.

Does it matter?? :)

We got more chances at others in the other classes. I'm just thinking.. Crompton gets injured, Stephens quits, Rozier parties too much and gets kicked off the team, and are we talking G. Jones or isn't there a walk-on from Knoxville?

Fire him. We can't be having this blatant lack of respect for the rules and bad national media exposure. It obviously isn't good for recruiting.

Exactly. Our pristine reputation can't tolerate such a lack of discretion.

Is Tennessee like the only team that reports itself? Because I never see any other team get its own article on ESPN.com for self-reporting a secondary violation.

I'm beginning to think that Kiffin is doing some of this on purpose. There is no harm from it, every school has them throughout the year, and it's publicity and rubbing it into the faces of others. His kid just got his name mentioned all over the nation. Maybe it was a "promise". haha

Of course he is. And he very well could laugh all the way to the best recruiting class.

we are reporting a secondary violation for the Twitter comment today on J.C. Copeland. Who really cares, but I didn't want just a random rival poster to get to gloat over something that doesn't matter in the least.

Tennessee plans to self-report another NCAA secondary violation - ESPN
that's fine and all, and this doesn't change my opinion on Kiffin, and however dumb the rule may be, i do think it extremely unacceptable to break the rule so blatently, or in the very least have someone apparenlty authorized to do this for Kiffin that apparently didn't know the rule or didn't go thru compliance first.

i mean, new employee or not, wouldn't you think that part of your training would be to at least know who and where the compliance folks are?

it's not a big deal, but when you talk about discipline, you have to have it even on the little things.

bottom line for me, this could have been easily avoided, shlouldn't have happened, and they do need to get a hold of these kinds of things, especially something like this that appears to have fallen completely thru the cracks.

my biggest concern is if this continues, and it continues to be newsworthy if for nothing else than the volume of these minor mishaps, and that's what they are, how long do you think it will be before the NCAA gets the notion that Kiffin or UT might be turning their nose up to the NCAA? at what point does the NCAA say enough is enough, and it start looking for a flame where some smoke certainly exists?

i'm all for publicity, but there is a point where it can turn on you and be a detriment.

they just need to control these little things better imo, if they are going to have as disciplined a program as i think they can have.
