we are reporting a secondary violation for the Twitter comment today on J.C. Copeland. Who really cares, but I didn't want just a random rival poster to get to gloat over something that doesn't matter in the least.
Tennessee plans to self-report another NCAA secondary violation - ESPN
that's fine and all, and this doesn't change my opinion on Kiffin, and however dumb the rule may be, i do think it extremely unacceptable to break the rule so blatently, or in the very least have someone apparenlty authorized to do this for Kiffin that apparently didn't know the rule or didn't go thru compliance first.
i mean, new employee or not, wouldn't you think that part of your training would be to at least know who and where the compliance folks are?
it's not a big deal, but when you talk about discipline, you have to have it even on the little things.
bottom line for me, this could have been easily avoided, shlouldn't have happened, and they do need to get a hold of these kinds of things, especially something like this that appears to have fallen completely thru the cracks.
my biggest concern is if this continues, and it continues to be newsworthy if for nothing else than the volume of these minor mishaps, and that's what they are, how long do you think it will be before the NCAA gets the notion that Kiffin or UT might be turning their nose up to the NCAA? at what point does the NCAA say enough is enough, and it start looking for a flame where some smoke certainly exists?
i'm all for publicity, but there is a point where it can turn on you and be a detriment.
they just need to control these little things better imo, if they are going to have as disciplined a program as i think they can have.
