Beer (and beer pics!)

Not sure what distributes around you...the best pale ale I've had is zombie dust by 3f. Green flash has a Belgian pale called rayon vert. If it distributes around you, caldera's pales nice as well. Yazoo's is ok, but I think sierra's pale is a strong go to pale. Always try to keep a 12 packin the fridge. Fine everyday beer.

Fat Tire is an amber ale. New Belgium's 1554 is vastly superior- if you like darker stuff, try that.

I'd recommend keeping an eye out for Shift from NB that you'll probably see sometime during the beginning of April. It's considered a Pale Lager, which I wasn't really that familiar with, but it uses the sames hops as their Pale Ale, Dig, but has a fruit component to it as well.

I'm going to try and convince my local bar on the water to start carrying it bc I can see myself consuming quite a few of these during the spring time.

Old man was under the weather this weekend so couldn't go to NoDa the new brewery in Charlotte. Instead we enjoyed a Baltika 3 Classic Lager. This is a Russian beer which is supposed to have premium ingredients. It was a pretty good light lager.

Old man is a decorated cold war veteran, his trip to Russia was special so he kinda gets sentimental about Russian stuff. I've never heard of good Russian beer, only their Vodka. All in all, better than I thought it would be.

I've heard the first part but not the ending. Between this winner and The Corch Irving Myers congresswoman, I'm amazed at who gets elected in this country.

I'm at a place here in Roanoke for the evening.

Arrogant Bastard and Dig tonight. My girlfriend is having her first full beer- its a Duvel.

Nice work on the better half.

As for Stone, you should try the Self-Righteous ale or the Ruination IPA -- both very good.

My local store just got in the Sweetwater Happy Ending Imperial Stout. It's great.

Enjoying a Gaelic Ale. Found a clearance deal on 12 pack of Highland Gaelic Ale at Harris Teeter in Charlotte last weekend.

Is this considered an Amber or Red Ale?

That's a good beer. Not sure if there is a difference between an amber and a red.

My take is an Amber Ale is a bit heavier than a Red but you are correct, they are very similar.

Maybe reds do something to the vocal chords, my imitation Irish accent sounds a bit better after drinking a red, it becomes fluent after about 6-7 :)

Trader Joe's had a great special on a 4 beer taster pack from Unibroue. Canadian brewery that hasve what appears to be Belgain style beers. Got Maudite, La Fin Monde, Trois Pistoles, Don De Dieu.

Comments.

La Fin du Monde is one of my favorite beers, period, one of the best tripels I've had. Trois Pistoles is strong fruit flavor but also a little bitter which made it good to me. Maudite is good, not great, for me but does have one of the best labels ever. Also, all the Unibroue beers seem to be extremely carbonated. Never had the Don.

That's all I got.

I've heard lots of good things about La Fin du Monde.
