Beer (and beer pics!)

Might be changing my tune on Boulevard Unfiltered Wheat. I only had one before and was totally let down. After having it with fried chicken and knowing what to expect, it wasn't too shabby. I don't know if it's the food or just knowing what to expect but it was a lot better than the first. I'm leaning towards knowing what to expect. Although the food didn't hurt. -- In other words, don't judge a book by it's cover. One taste should be enough to form an opinion but it's not. After having my first wheat beer, the taste caught me off guard. Now I know what to expect or what mood I'm in. If you're craving a IPA or you're craving a wheat beer... the other probably won't taste too good. Live and learn!

Went to Madison, WI for the weekend. Daaaaaayum. I went to 3 breweries: Ale Asylum, New Glarus, and Great Dane. Top notch, if I do say so. Ale Asylum's Madtown Nutbrown was so good, I brought back two six-packs. Might be the best beer I've ever had.

New Glaurus is awesome.

Got some Marble Brewing Red Ale this week at MidTown in Nashville. Very surprised how good it is, but the story of it is interesting. Apparently the only reason it is in Nashville and just at Midtown is to keep Marble City in Knoxville from using the "Marble" outside of Knoxville. Anyways, who cares....good session beer.

Brewdog seems to be more concerned about "who can make the beer with most alcohol" rather than "who can make the best tasting beer". Give me a hard to get Pliny The Elder, or Three Floyd's Dreadnaught IPA's among other's rather than one of Brewdog's gimmick beers. Brewdog is a quality brewer, but seems to be missing the forrest for the trees, so to speak

One of my favorite Pizza/Sub places almost always has Pliny (Elder and Younger) on tap.

Milo, have you been to Hair of the Dog brewing? I've heard great things about them, but they don't seem to have much distribution.

Food pairing can definitely make or break a lot of beers.

Yeah, I live about a five minute drive from their brewery. Ruth and Adam are both pretty damn solid.

Recently found an old favorite of mine, which I have not had in quite some time. Enjoyed it.

Man I have to disagree. Love Abita, but I think that is the worst beer Abita makes. I took the Abita tour while I was in Louisiana for mardi gras this year and it is pretty cool if you ever find yourself near Abita Springs. If so, try the Andy Gator!

Speaking of Abita, pick some of this up around December. Will make you merry.

Not a fan of any of the Abita beers. I am going to New Orleans and looking forward to trying NOLA brewing's beers. Also going to Avenue Pub for Catillion Day.

Hair of the Dog is amazing stuff.
