Beer (and beer pics!)

I thought Skinny Dip was okay but all light beers taste pretty much the same to me. 1554 is a dark lager. Nice chocolate flavor but not too heavy. I just wish we had Fat Tire here in VA.

Most low carb beers do taste like crap. All of them do.

Was at rogue earlier. Had some imperial juniper and double dead guy.

Just out of curiosity, how much is a six pack of dead guy ale out in Oregon?

Had a few great ones on vacation last week: Rogue John John (Juniper and finished in Gin barrels), Rogue GYO (black ale brewed with all self-grown ingredients), Dogfish Head Black and Blue (blackberry and blueberry), Dogfish 90 minute IPA (on draft at Amen Street in Charleston), Stone Sublimely Self-Righteous Ale, and the New Belgium Ranger IPA. All were fantastic. The John John and Black and Blue were truly incredible.

I've been working on a 12er of Miller High Life lately. At first I didn't like it but it has kind of grew on me. I usually prefer Guinness, but this isn't that bad for a watered down 'merica beer.

My neighbor had a delivery from another guy in our neighborhood. He works for a company that does the plastic rings around beer. So occasionally he gets pallets delivered to his house as a test...
So he strategically places beer at different peoples house around the golf course..
So he brougt 50 cases over to my neighbors..

The coors light are 8z cans, I had never seen them before..but it's my favorite kind of beer....free

Must be a regional thing. Pony cans are not uncommon around here, and neither are 8oz bottles.

EDIT: BTW, they seem to encourage fast drinking.

yea
I noticed that tonight

about two good pulls from those pony cans and it was time for another

we brought them out 4 at a time

that's still not stopping me from taking about 5 cases to my house tomorow

as a side note
I met the other guy that was responsible for the free beer tonight at the club house and he was a a wine drinker

I felt sorry for him

Bought a bottle of Stone's 14th Anniversary "Emperial IPA" a few weeks ago. Pretty good, nice and hoppy with a little bit of an earthy taste in the middle that was pleasant.

Tried Shiner's "Smokehaus" Summer Seasonal today. It truly smells and tastes like mesquite smoke, which in general is not a bad flavor, but did not go too well in a beer for me. I could see where some might like it, but I don't think I'll be picking it up again.

I was at DFW airport Friday and the wife and I stopped by the Fridays near our gate for a bite to eat.

They were out of my goto (Newcastle), so I got a Bass Ale. It had been several years since I had one of those. Good beer.

Have tried most, if not all of those, and they are all quality beers. Have you tried the Palo Santo Dogfish? Apparently they are aged in these huge tanks, some of the biggest natural tanks in the world from what Im told, that are made from this Palo Santo wood. It's a potent dark ale, 12%. Rich in taste and high in quality.

Ah! I just tried the Mikkeller's Black. Oh my, heaviest beer Ive tried to date. It's got strong taste of chocolate, Danish licorice, and coffee. Certainly is a sipper. It's a whopping 17.5%, the strongest Scandinavian beer from what I am told. Made by the Danish Mikkeller brothers. If you haven't had a Mikkeller's yet go out and find one. Best European brewers on the market in my opinion. I had one of these sent back home for storage just because I know I don't have the self-control to keep this beer sealed.

Also, been on a Mudshark binge lately. Full Moon Belgian White Ale, brewed in Lake Havasu, AZ. Decent beer, reasonable price, and it carried a hefty 8.5%.

Hmmm...must decide between some slightly skunky Newcastle or bright and fresh Budweiser. I think, perhaps, I shall have a few of both.
