I think Oregon's strengths are speed and D at this point. We're pretty good at stopping the run, not so good at stopping the pass. That is to say it seems to be our mantra -- stop the run, give up a 25 yard pass play, then stop them on downs. We've adhered to this going back to when Bellotti was coach.

A big plus for us has been the addition of D line coach Jerry Azzinaro last year. He's done wonders (expect for the Rose bowl of course :eek:hmy: ) The addition of LaMichael James in the backfield will be another positive for us as well. I hear we're looking to do more 2 back formations this year with Barner and James.

Youth at QB is a concern as well. If I had my druthers I would have liked to see this game in mid season when Thomas had a chance to get into a groove. If turn overs are low, could be a close one. If either side turns it over a lot could be a long day.

If Oregon turns it over, UT has a better chance to win.

If UT turns it over, Oregon could hang 50 in a heartbeat.

Most under the age of 25 I'd wager. While I'd love to see a score like that I see no cupcake game.
Aren't most Oregon fans pretty young? I think just from what I've seen you have a lot of band wagon fans. Oregon doesn't have that long a history of being a contender.

I'm sure. Flash always attracts. I moved to the state in 71 when the team was pathetic. Not Oregon State pathetic but bad nonetheless. Wasn't really till the 80's, late 80's, that things turned around. Most credit Rick Brooks, but I think Bellotti was the key. It was always hard to attract SoCal talent to the state.

This game will keep me to until next Saturday. One part of me thinks Tennessee will hit them in the mouth, the other side is very concerned with our depth and youth.

We need to throw the first punch, Crowd needs to be louder than it has EVER been. I hope the fans at the game understand we REALLY need the 12th man.

I have been thinking of anyway possible to come down for this game, if I did I would scream until my throat was bleeding and could not talk for weeks.

I agree but the people behind you will be screaming at you to sit down and be quiet :eek:lol: What has happened to the insanity that USED to be Neyland stadium?

I sat in the student section for 90% of the games the other 10% I was lucky enough to have even crazier people behind me.

I am coming down for Bama game and I hope I have some crazy people in front of me,next to me, behind me, if not they are going to hate me.

I remember when I was in High School and a student that place would rock.

I remember my first time at Neyland. I was in the Pride of the Sunshine marching band in 2000 and that place was ROCKING. To this day, that game was one of the best environments I have ever been in.

There are a lot of those. Most of my friends are Duck fans with zero connection to the university and no recollection of Tennessee's national title.

We'll see. I'd love for our game to be competitive and come down to the wire. Makes for a good game and great discussion after the game.

Yeah, that's probably true. No one on here with any sense expects that this Saturday will be anything besides a tough game for us, but I expect our Volunteers to fight hard and compete. We've got a chance to win, but Oregon is a solid team, so it'll be a fight. It's going to be fun to watch. Go Vols!

I wouldn't go that far. This game typically decides the SEC East, so we both have that to play for. If this were at the end of the season and the SEC was decided I would tend to agree with your statement. I will also argue that you will be playing for respect (not that many Gators don't respect your team... I sure as hell do). The "He who must not be named" era has really made Tennessee into...I don't want to say laughing stock because that's far from it but I think you know what I mean... and you guys want to play everyone tough proving that it was a fluke. Just my unbiased thoughts.

I wouldnt go as far as to say this game is for the East. But if it comes down to that, and we play in the SEC championship, Big Orange Country will explode. We always play better as a unrespected underdog anyway

And I wish you guys luck and when we play next week, I hope it's an injury free game where we both lay it all out on the field. Now go show what the SEC is made of against the Oregon Quackers.
