Be glad we are not in a coaching search this year...just look at Auburn

I think they are very similar programs. Recently Auburn has been better and I think Gus was a good coach. He beat UF, Georgia, Bama multiple times and had a winning SEC record. We don't have a coach since Fulmer that can say that. They pulled the trigger without someone in hand which is shocking for that money. Not sure who their number 1 was. I am not sure they will find a better coach than Gus, but will wait and see.

For those calling to relieve CJP of his coaching duties this year, let's be thankful we are not in the coaching search this year. Just look at the dumpster fire that is happening at Auburn. Many of their top candidates (who would probably be our candidates as well) are dropping out probably because no coach wants to join a team in a covid pandemic year. Most likely, Auburn will be settling on Kevin Steele as their new head coach. That would be the equivalent of UT firing CJP to promote Jim Chaney to be head coach...
Ha, watch the meltdown when they hire Freeze!
GBO!!

Expected to hear Auburn hiring Freeze. Why else would you fire Malzhan, who can cobble together a team good enough to beat Sabin every three/four years?

Someone above mentioned Sarkisian as a candidate for AU. Had not even considered him, but apparently what is needed nowadays is offense, so maybe not the worst hire.

Then again, he is a coordinator at UA and we already tried that. LMAO.
Sark withdrew after he apparently demanded a 75% buyout. No way AU will do that after the Malzahn experience

Schiano didn't "supposedly" do any such thing. It's fine to not want the man as a coach. Quit libeling him.

He threatened to sue Tennessee over the rumors. Then he and his attorney remembered the concept of discovery cuts both ways. Think about that before you post again on this topic.

It isn't just Sandusky. Those of us down here in the Tampa Bay area remember Schiano intentionally downplaying the issue of MRSA with his players. That was before three of them got stuck with it.

All is fair in recruiting. Whether McCreary is telling the truth or not...and he is the one who went under oath...Schiano would have been a complete liability in recruiting. You add on a situation with a potentially life-threatening infection where you mislead your players, and you have a situation where you simply aren't going to win many recruiting battles.

The SEC WEST is not a place for learning on the job.
The boy is fixin to step up to the Bigs.

He has 7 years of HC experience. I don't know if he is better than Gus, but he has owned his conference while at Boise State.

Given who Auburn was targeting, they could have done much worse.

He is ready to make the jump as BSU is not real stable now. New President, no AD. Stellar move by Auburn. Thinking he understands what is needed on both sides of the ball.

Harsin would have been a nice fit at Tennessee as well, he would need some help in the recruiting battlefields of the south, but Harsin is very affordable, plays offense, and has experience as a head coach at a school that would do terrific in a better conference.

Auburn just got themselves a proven winner.

True...but he's not exactly a novice.

He's been a Head Coach for 6 hears in FBS and the headman of a program with winning tradition. Also knows offense. Balanced offense.

Not “labeling” anything. Have you ever read the court transcript? I’m sure your are intelligent enough to have read what was said, but several coaches on the PSU staff testified under oath the Schiano told them he saw Sandusky doing those things in the locker/shower room. Why do you think he was bypassed for the OSU job?? I personally wouldn’t want a person like that teaching or being a leader over my kids.
Are you saying you are fine with a person, who “supposedly witnessed” and was testified under oath they witnessed child abuse and turned their head the other way?

What court transcript? From what trial?

This is about to come back to bite you.

but several coaches on the PSU staff testified under oath the Schiano told them he saw Sandusky doing those things in the locker/shower room.

Time for you to link to these transcripts. Provide a link to "several coaches" that said Schiano told them he saw Sandusky doing anything. Actually, provide a link to just one coach who said Schiano told them that.

Are you saying you are fine with a person, who “supposedly witnessed” and was testified under oath they witnessed child abuse and turned their head the other way?

Link to any of this?

Harsin certainly has his work cut out for him. Auburn was done with Gus. Just looking for an excuse to move on. Old Boise could look better to Harsin after a couple of seasons on the plains. Of course generational wealth opportunity may come his way only once so he needed to take that job. Auburn probably has a decent roster so none of the torturous lack of talent Pruitt or Majors had to face. SEC football is always interesting- a Y-chromosome soap opera.
