there is no formula or mechanism for considering a team's performance from the previous season...

They figured that voters would take that into account when the voted. But from what i hear, some coaches let others vote for them. Plus being a coach is very demanding, when would they have time to study these teams or watch them. The coaches poll is a joke.

I just went to the Fox website for their BCS "standings", and their numbers do not include ANY computer information.

Above link to CFN BCS listing. Who know's what factors into COMP%of 100 and why we are behind Cal in this % but ahead in the other two % listed?:furious3:

This is just the first BCS poll but it sure makes it harder to climb the ladder when you start #11.:realmad:

I don't think getting "screwed" right now is the point. This is the system that is supposed to figure out who the 2 best teams are in the nation at the end of the year. If the BCS doesn't know that UT is better than Cal right now, then who's to say that it will know who the 2 best teams are at the end of the season?

I agree that it's weird that we're behind Cal, but I will only freak out if we (God, please) beat Bama, SC, LSU, Arkansas, Vandy, and UK, and don't make it to a BCS bowl.

While we're on the subject of teams being ranked too high, every voter who had ND ahead of Tennessee should lose their vote. How bad did they lose to Michigan? And coming into this week (before the UF loss), the polls had UF ahead of UM and ND ahead of the Vols. The human polls and the BCS are nothing but garbage. The coaches' poll should be removed from the system. I won't even get into that discussion. Oh yeah. Maybe we could just have a playoff.
