BCS Championship

the sad thing is while the BCS may rarely get the lesser opponent right, it's gotten the right champion more times than people give it credit for. you put last year's Duke team on the floor against LSU or Florida 7 times a piece and Duke wins that series. my stance is that neither format gets it right, just that the BCS makes football more exciting this way

oh yeah its real exciting allright. Especially when a quality team like Boise St is competing with say Arkansas or Florida for a BCS game.

UT shouldn't, which is exactly why I have been critical of our season this year. However, UK would be elated to win that bowl. Those guys have put together a good season and they deserve a shot to get a little hardware for their trophy case regardless of how prestigious it may or may not be.

The UK's of the world can keep their crappy bowls, a playoff would not interfere with these.

I hope you don't really think that is what I said. I simply refuted your claim that there are bowls that do not decide the national championship that still mean something.

It is what your saying. Your saying the bowl system is better then a playoff system. All I am stating is one of the many reasons why it isnt.

You are trying, but you aren't doing a very good job. How does discussing the winner of the Music City Bowl relate to anything. It's not like either team in that bowl has any influence on the national championship.

lay off kpt and yell at me... for some reason you got the idea he's on my side.. i admit i'm fighting this battle by my lonesome

Will Ohio State really not be a realistic enough champion? Texas last year? Tennessee in 1998?

What about levelling the playing field? By giving teams a schedule of approximately equal difficulty or give teams a playoff to allow them to decide the champion on the field? Its works in every other major sports league expect college football?

No. No and no.

My No's do not detract from how great a team I think OSU is this year. Or Texas last year or UT in 98. But it should be proven on the field and with more than one match-up that some people have determined is the 1 v 2 match-up. I know you cannot take the human element out of it even with a playoff, but it lessens the impact.

How do you propose to give teams schedules of equal difficulty?

Lets see every sports league from little league to tennis to lacrosse decides their champion from a playoff.......all except one. And everyone else is doing it wrong except college football?

you dont need equal schedules if you have a playoff.

you only need equal schedules if you claim the regular season is the playoff which is what you claim.

You stated earlier that you could provide equal schedules.

Also, please show me a post where I claimed the regular season is a playoff.

You stated earlier that you could provide equal schedules.

your full of it. why would you need equal schedules if you have a playoff? the champion is decided on the field.

you only need equal schedules when you have a system like we have now where people like you claim the regular season is the playoff.

in a playoff ya'll are still going to whine.. Just in the same boat that you whine that the Big East sucks, the Pac 10 sucks and everyone not in the SEC sucks because they don't play our schedule. how bout the SEC just secede from the NCAA and have their own playoff?

Oh goodness. What does that say? Keep making stuff up, you are practically arguing against yourself.

Would I prefer the "and 1" or a four team playoff? Yes. Am I losing sleep over it? Absolutely not.

no one whines when the champion is decided on the field.

Have no idea what you are talking about, the SEC seceding? An 8 team playoff would make me complain a lot less than the system I currently see. But you are right, every other sport has it wrong with those crazy postseason games.

Check the year 2004. Do you think we would have been included in the playoffs? The answer is no. Guess who would have been whining. The answer is you.
