Bball recruiting is off the chain

It will be fun to watch Tyndall when he has a full season for recruiting. He will be like the old Warner Bros. "Tazmanian Devil" on the recruiting trail. This guy is amazing!

It's not a bad analogy. How many conference championships does Shaka Smart have? Hint: The same number of NCAA championships he has.

Yet no one's going to argue that he's a bad coach and that his teams suck, or that their accomplishments are meaningless because they haven't won their conference. Because they're really, really good in the post-season and while that might not technically mean you won anything in the minds of a lot of people it still means you won something. Thus the Shaka Smart Sweepstakes that schools attempt to engage in every April.

Again I think this is subjective.

Agree. Relevance in the college game however does come with conference championships and consistently being in the "national discussion" for the right reasons.

A Sweet 16 gets you an extra week of national discussion that many other programs don't get. You are one of 16 teams left, and the national media has Monday through Thursday to talk about you. Winning a conference tournament occurs while every other conference tournament is happening. A Sweet 16 can be a big deal for publicity and perception. I don't agree that it means nothing. It is the standard these days. JMO.

Been out of the country the last couple of days. Got back yesterday and was like "WHAT THE HELL? I THOUGHT BRUCE WAS STILL AT AUBURN!" Sounds like a Bruce 2.0 IMO #DonnieKnoxville

Yes.

No one cares about who won the SEC Championship outside of SEC fans. And even then, it's not that big of a deal. What did it do for Ole Miss in 2013 or Vandy in 2012?

The NCAA tournament trumps everything else.

A Sweet 16 gives a program far more national exposure and recruits from different geographic regions can immediately relate to the accomplishment.

Ole Miss and Vandy won the SEC Tournament, not the SEC Championship. The regular season champion, even if split, is recognized as the SEC Champion.

Can someone kindly summarize or copy some of the article on Volquest regarding Marlon Hunter, 2015 basketball player? I didn't want to start a new thread, although someone may need to. He apparently goes to Houston High School, which is my former HS. I could literally walk to the school to see him play. Thanks.

well i will be that guy.. so half of the recruits that have signed are from smu..is that correct ?so vn is excited about/stealing recruits from that school...

Again with this sh*t?

Really, if you're "going to be that guy" that lobs a turd into the punchbowl, at least act like you have a clue what you're talking about.

Thanks, sugar.

we will be average in bb but it seems thats all is expected anymore... in all of our sports.... so will this team compete for sec championships? will his next? oh wait till 2016 yeah that will be the year..

ok off to bed

Can we at least all get it straight that Southern Miss is USM? SMU is in Dallas. There is a difference and a big one at that.

Secondly, if you think 1 (maybe another who was considering USM) are half of our recruits, then you have the right to your opinion. Just a misinformed opinion.

It's a video interview.

Not much there, mentions 4 offers from small schools, interest from Tennessee and a host of other SEC schools.

Re: Darius Thompson.....I'd like to see him come back too. I like his court vision and passing ability. Defensively, I think he was a big mismatch for us in the man-to-man. He got beat way too often on the drive. I think he's better suited for CDT's zone, even though it is a match up zone. I think eventually, he's going to be a good shooter too. I like his form. I think his shooting was solely a matter of confidence.

I'm excited to see what kind of recruiting class Tyndall can build when he can recruit for a full cycle.
