BBall Lineup next season

at this point, with all the talent we have, i dont think that the starting lineup will be the same every night. i see tyler, wayne, and possibly bobby maze as the only permenant starters. Other than that i think that CBP will change the starting lineup each game depending on who we're playin.

It doesn't work like that. You try to start the same lineup as much as you can so guys can get a rhythm playing together. Otherwise assignments will be missed.

Although this team won't be shooting as many 3's, I think the overall speed of play will be even more uptempo, with more pressing (similar to the '06-'07 team). You're going to see fewer 3's next year throughout college basketball, since they're moving the line back a bit (a move I agree with). We will be incredibly long, athletic and deep. Lots of forced turnovers, lots of steals, lots of blocked shots, lots of dunks/layups in transition, and a much greater emphasis, I think, on inside scoring, with Hopson and Tyler slashing (and Maze, to some extent), Chism and Tyler and B-Dub banging down low.

The "starting five" really doesn't matter so much as average minutes played, and I see it breaking down like this:

Tyler 30
Chism 25
Hopson 25
Tatum 20
Maze 25
West 15
Prince 25
Williams 20
Tabb 5-10
Negedu 5-10

There's your 10-man rotation. Plenty of depth. Pearl understands that if you're going to play at a very fast pace - "controlled chaos" - you can't have guys out there for 36, 38, 40 minutes a game.

Any extra/injury/mop-up minutes: Woolridge, Childress, Stephen Pearl

Jurick will have to redshirt. He would never see the floor. I can't remember a time when UT's had this kind of post depth. In recent history, we've been thin at the post, deep in the frontcourt.

This team will crush people. Dominate. Destroy. Watch. It's going to be fun.

the starting 5 will be

PG Maze
SG Hopson
SF tatum
PF Smith
C Chism

I also think that woolridge will get more minutes that some of you think, but he needs to hurry up and get to KNOX.... Tabb and Neguda will also get quality minutes... I really do not want to see Prince all to much unless we are trying to get some momentum and are looking for a big dunk

This would be my semi-delusional, dream lineup based off of hype

PG - Maze
SG - Hopson
SF - Woolridge
PF - Negedu
C - Williams

You really don't think if Williams steps up his game as much by the fall as it seems like he already has Pearl wouldn't start him over Chism? I love big Wayne, but Williams has really worked on his game.

If Williams starts, Chism will simply move to the 4

its more of a prototypical lineup that we could now have if we wanted, when in the past we have had to have undersized front and backcourts

I don't think neither one will start. Both will come off the bench.

Who will start in that scenario? Tabb? I don't think there's a chance that Tabb starts over both of those two. Even though he's a great role player, he simply isn't as atheletic, and doesn't bring as much to the table as Tatum and Prince.

so
Maze
Hopson
Smith
Chism
Williams

I could see this working. Prince is really athletic to have on the bench. Ih he doesn't start I see him getting at least 25 minutes per game. The question is Hopson in my book. Is Pearls hands tied and pretty much has to start him or does he go with the better athlete? McDonalds all american doesn't mean he is the best. Tatum has looked pretty good in my book as well as Prince. I would take Juan and Lofton over any two McDonalds kids any day.

you take those two (and I am a fan of the pair). I'll take Beasley and Rose and beat you like a red-headed stepchild. Ditto Love and Gordon. Ditto Mayo and Green. This list could get long.

You're putting way too much stock in Prince who has a limited skill set. Hopson has the same body type as Prince, can drive like Prince, can use his off hand unlike Prince, and can shoot from outside 10' unlike Prince.

Oh yeah, and I'm pretty sure he can learn to take the reach-around swipe when he gets beat off the dribble like Prince has perfected.

I can't wait to see B. Maze run the floor & set it up for Hopson, Smith & Chisim. I hope Prince shows up this year. I saw the UT @ GA game & he was really lathargic, even on his break away dunk. Coulda been a nasty, but he settled for ye ol faithful white boy simple one. No matter Maze & West will combine for a hot point; #2 will be great again; Smith & Negedu will be #'s 9,6,5,3,&1 on ESPN's top 10 plays with some contributions from Chizzy. Brian...please...I hope your workin' hard.

PS- I think the big 3 for UNC are all back for next year; no draft for them.
