I heard Coach Bruce Pearl speak at Providence Christian Academy in Murfreesboro last night. In the introduction, Mr. David Howard, a booster who hosted Coach BP for the event, stated that Coach had to get back to Knoxville immediately after talk because he had a recruit on campus. I believe that he said the recruit was from NC (not sure I heard correctly) Also, it was mentioned twice that UT was going against Coach Shevshe---sky and DUKE for this guy. ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA WHO WAS ON CAMPUS VISITING LAST THIS WEEKEND? Also, afterward, caught Coach on the way out and asked if he "planned on taking any more transfers this year". HE smiled and said "MAybe" Interpret that as you wish.

Elliot Williams is in town with his dad Friday through Sunday. It's his 2nd unofficial. Plays at St. George's Independent School in Collierville, TN.

Rivals #20 ranked player in the 2008 class, 5 stars, #3 ranked PG (though he's also a SG). Many believe Tennessee leads over Memphis, Vanderbilt, Virginia, and Clemson.

Duke and Texas also involved, but Williams says those 5 are his leaders.

Thanks guys. I didn't know we were up against Duke on him. It sounds as though Williams is the key figure in the future in running the Phoenix style offense that Coach has talked about.

Duke isn't one of his five favorites. We are. Most speculate that we have a slight lead.

This Phoenix Suns and Golden State Warriors style offense that Pearl is trying to adopt has to sound good to Elliot right now, i dont see him turning that down at all especially knowing that he will be able to play right away... i believe Pearl will win recruiting battles over schools like Duke and Carolina simply because their system holds back their potential talent that these players have, and with the run n gun style that Bruce will allow them to play with sounds way more appealing to recruits such as Elliot so that he can show the whole country "What He Got" :)

Carolina's is most definately an up tempo system.

that's right.. carolina is the only team this year that had a more up tempo team than UT.. that's why they won the ACC and bear duke twice..
but in the future, UT will pass Carolina for the most up tempo team.. that's what wins ball games nowadays.. The run n gun style.. Just like what the Warriors did to the Mavericks.. and that's why Duke is starting to loose alot more games.. Cuz they have a boring slow pace game where they waste the clock down and then try to do something at the end of the shot clock.. If they would run n gun, they would blow basically everyone out except for a few teams cuz Duke is loaded with talent..

no modern player wants to be handcuffed in a walk the ball up-half-court offense, but the reality is that defense will always win games, which is why the full court swarming press is more important than the fast break.
