Baylor's (Chattanooga) kicker is POY in TN

Maybe he had already seen enough tape on the guy. Or maybe had seen enough or another coach had seen him already. Who knows what Dooley was thinking, and maybe he was to busy to sit out there and watch him all day. Who knows???? Dooley is smarter than most, and knows how to evaluate. That's not the issue we have to worry about right now.

We need a kicker that can handle pressure, and can kick 40+ yard fgs without worrying about him not being able to to do it. Like another poster said...kicking in the endzone every time is the least of what we need to concern ourselves with.

Yeah, I thought about that too. Surely, he had already studied him and seeing the one kick just confirmed it. Surely...I do think Dooley is a smart guy and much smarter than to offer a scholly based on one kick....surely

Oh yeah, last I checked we had the #1 kicker and #1 punter coming out of high school two years ago.....how have they turned out?

So what do you think we should do? Take kickers that can't kick in high school and take our chances?

My dad is close friends with the coach of West, and apparently Dooley evalulated Bullock once up close in Nashville during a kicking workout before he commited. He said that Dooley walked out onto the field, saw him kick once from college kick off position that landed in the endzone. He immediately left saying something along the words, "that's all I need to see" following a scholarship offer the next day.

I know my word ain't worth **** on here, but I just thought it was an interesting evaluation and thought I would share.

Just curious but did Cody Blanc catch the kick? Your word might not be worth shizz on here but for some reason I can see that happening.

Not sure. But I do know that there isn't much interest from him in playing college football.

He has no interest whatsoever in playing football in college.

Could his mind be changed? Maybe, but I doubt it. The kid is going to either get a full academic or athletic ride (on soccer).

He doesn't have to use football to get to a school.

looks like George Bullock will be asked to walk on & Henrique Ribeiro will get an offer. Sorry no link.

Really? That is interesting. Wonder if Bullock still has his offer from Navy on the table?

My understanding was that the Baylor kid had already said he is not interested in playing American football on the college level.

I hope you are correct. They say that the Baylor kid can really kick it. I haven't been able to find any film on him.

Offer based on one kick? Obviously Dooley has never taken a statistics class.

I wonder if our coaching staff would allow a soccer player to come kick for a few minutes during practices, show up for games to kick and then spend the rest of his time with the soccer team?

Sorry, didn't mean to imply that was the only evaluation by any means, just the only one from Dooley up close. I'm sure there were others by different parts of the staff.:hi:

Got me... Especially liked how you backed up your accusation.

you right that was a butthead post, sorry ! I was working & did not have the time to explain.

Kicking is a different game altogether, coaching staffs have kicking coaches evaluate prospects for them! :good!:

Coach Massey said he first asked Ribeiro if he were interested in playing college football before talking with the coaches. However, Ribeiro jokingly said his coach has not yet shared with him all the schools interested to keep him focused on Baylor’s season.

But Ribeiro is interested in receiving a football offer. “That would be good,” he said.

"Hopefully a lot of college scouts will hear about this and see my stats and what I can do and take an interest now," Ribeiro said. "This is an unbelievable award."

I'm watching the Baylor kicker in the State Championship game. He really has a strong leg. But the technique is very rough. Not smooth at all. He just kinda bull rushes it and gives it a whack. He is a big, somewhat heavy side kid.

I don't know....maybe? Diamond in the rough perhaps. The closest thing I've ever seen to it was that Janakowsi dude when he was at Florida State

Wow! I have to say...dude has quite a leg! He looks like a kid out playing in the back yard who is kicking off for a tackle football game. But he can boom it. Florida will laugh at us until they actually see where the ball goes when he kicks it.

Janikowski dude would be good...

I promise you...never quite seen anything like it. A right legger Janikowski is the closest thing I can compare it to. I see why there is no film out there on him. He is rough looking. And he got to weigh about 230-240. He can crank about a 60 yard field goal and then punch out about half the other team. And I think he is smoking a cigarette while kicking

Kicking from the middle of field, he looks great. Then he tried a 37 yarder from the left hash and pushed it right. He may be kinda like the gorilla golf joke. He can drive the ball 400 yards but he putts just like he drives. We might have to have a short kicker to handle the kicks from the angles. And let him crank the bombs. He can give it a ride.

I don't know. A load of raw talent there. Needs a lot of polishing. If we don't have a kicking coach, who knows something about actual kicking, I don't know if it will work or not...?

I was at the game and this kid was kicking tne heck out of the ball in warm ups. I think he kicked every kickoff into the endzone during the game. Ensworth was a good team by the way. Put a beat down on Baylor. Elder got hurt first quarter and did not play the rest of the game.

Yeah, I go to Baylor and was at the game as well. It sucks to lose to the same team two years in a row in the State Championship Game. Tennessee should offer Henrique and let Bullock walk-on and compete if he wants to. He will be a star in college wherever he goes.

I go to mccallie and he has by far the strongest leg I have ever seen. In the baylor vs. mccallie game I don't think there was one kickoff that didn't go to the back or through the endzone.
